Question EGR Block Off Plate?(Medium Post)

My check engine light came on due to my EGR valve. I have a 94 R2 so I cant just cap off the EGR valve if I dont want the check engine light coming on.

I read rob's site about the blocking plate deal. Now my question is that he moddified his with a working EGR. Mine is not working so if i do the block off plate mod will it make the CEL turn off or will it still read that it is bad?

Also if I were to go ahead and get that damn 100 dollar for nothing part. I dont want to pay another 180 bucks to install it which is what I was quoted. I want to do it my self and again rob's site came in handy. Sounds like I will either use the block off mod or just replace it but I'am going to do it myself since i am mechanically inclined.

There is a couple of things that I'am confused about though. The parts I need to replace the valve went right over my head. When he says remove the runner pipes from the turbo, does he mean the y-pipe? He also said I would need 3 replacement metal gaskets between the runner pipes and the turbo unit, how much and where can I get these metal gaskets(part # if u can give that to me). Also I need 1 small rubber bushing and yes where can I get this and how much(part # too if you can give that to me). Can I use the same bushings the pressure chamber bolts go through since he said they are identical? I need some length of silicone vacuum line also, I never bought vacuum line before so is there a certain diameter the line needs to be and can I get it at home depot or an auto store?

Thank you so much for bearing with me and my long post,

I would recommend acouple of things. One find a used egr for cheap and change it yourself. Pretty easy to do. Or use the blockoff plate and get a relay from radio shack and splice into the lines so the computer thinks there is one there. Do a search on EGR you should be able to find the post on how to do the blockoff plate with the relay. If you need any of these things PM me. I have a blockoff plate that I never used and an egr valve. Hope this helps.
