EGR 12v relay fix, confused?!

EGR 12v relay fix, confused?!
My EGR sensor on the valve itself cracked off so I have the check engine light.
I read the two 12v relay fixed but still confused. Do I just cut the two wires from the sensor and solder it to the relay? Do I need to do anything with the EGR solenoid itself? Do I need to do anything with the EGR valve itself (still installed with all appropriate hoses)?
Can someone who has performed this fix please give me a step by step guide? Thanks so much.
