Efini Steering Wheel Question

Yes I searched, and I saw little info. One thread a guy said that you lose the clock spring with tthe Efini Installation? Is this true? Will I have no horn? I don't care about Cruise or anything, but I just want the horn. Will I have any problems with installation that I need to know about? I know how to take the stock wheel off, just wanted to know if I needed to do anything special for the new installation. Thanks.

I don't see how you would loose the horn.. Let me check.. I just checked mine and it has horn on the steering wheel.. Take the front part off and hook up the line.

It takes all of 3 minutes to pull the steering wheel off, and it would take about 2 more minutes to determine if it will work with the horn and everything. I'd just go for it .

If it doesn't work out, you can always just pop the stock wheel back on.

That said, I would seriously doubt that you couldn't use the horn button.

No you cant use the clock spring on the efini wheel, It wont line up. I had to go without the horn. The clock spring has a stump on it that fits into a hole in the back of the wheel. The efini does not have this hole to line them up.

You owe me one for doing this.. J/K

Anyhow, It looks like it should work with stock clock spring..
And also you don't have to drill anything.. I didn't think you would..

Hope this helps..

Just for fun.. I know it will work because I've replaced both wheels on my FDs..

I have all available steering wheels, except for the 97 momo version with the airbag.. I never got it because it was kind of ugly..

so it's not really a "direct bolt on".

Sorry about mis-informing you rotorsownyou7. My freinds in Japan told me that it's a direct bolt on. I hope everything works out for you.

it does not just "fit" there is no provision for the big honkin us clock spring. you can make a hole... just look at the pictures. and the simplest way to turn off the air bag light is to just pull the bulb out from behind it. no beep etc.. it comes out like a x-mas bulb

Agentspeed.. I'll try to find you one..

Mad 7tist, I think he only cares about getting the horn working.. All he needs to do is get the clock spring horn line and hook it up to the line on the steering wheel. Its quite simple.

And you are right about the air bag.. simplest would be to remove the bulb from the back of the gauge cluster. or piece of tape over the airbag line.

Alright guys, been working on it, and now I have a new question. How can I get the horn clip from the efini wheel and hook it up to the horn, while taking the clock spring off? Is this possible? Can I just remove the clock spring and tap into the horn wire? And which wire is it? Thanks again. Some pics below.

Well, you can.. but the purpose of clockspring is so that the wire doesn't tangle. I would use the clock spring.
