ECU pinouts spliced/connected...any ideas?

ECU pinouts spliced/connected...any ideas?
The wires from pins 1U (fuel thermosensor) and 4D (ground(input)) on my ECU have been tapped and connected together. Does anyone know what is trying to be accomplished with this setup?
I noticed it when going to tap the O2 and tach wires. The car is a 92 JDM and the ECU is tuned by MINES, so I'm guessing they made the connection, but it's just bugging the crap out of me that I can't figure out for what reason.
