"Ebay parts" and "good for the FD" should NEVER be used in the same sentence. The only exception is if they are separated by "not".

Don't forget, this is one of those cars where you get what you pay for. If you cheap out on your car, expect it to come back and bite you in the ***.

Come on man, that is not entirely true. There are many parts you can buy on Ebay with not only decent quality, but some that are downright good. For example, I recently bought a braided stainless steel clutch line that is very nice for $19. It's also a good place for things like polished aluminum intake piping. The important thing is to make sure you do your research beforehand.

I DO have a problem with Chinese made "ss autochrome" , "godspeed" etc. parts. They may look like that M2 Medium you've been Jonesing for, but cut them both in half and suddenly they don't looks so much alike. Sub-par material, crappy welds and paper thin piping is what they're peddling.

On the other hand, if you know what you want, eBay is a great place to look for it. I got my ZEAL B6 coilovers off of eBay for under a grand. My RB swaybars were a great deal, too. Research, then spend.

I agree with you 100% there, stay away from those for sure. Like I said, make sure you do your research.

I'd buy stuff like interior pieces from ebay but not something that effects the performance of the car.

I bought a few parts from ebay. On my current FD I got the turn signals from there. I havent had any issues with them. I wouldn't buy any mechanical parts but other than that I fine with buying things from ebay.

Some things are great if you know what to look for, for example what I've bought recently from ebay are:

NGK spark plugs
Low temp thermostat
OEM JDM sidemarkers

^Personally I go with OEM replacement for things like tie-rod ends and I would NOT buy on-line unless they were OEM and still in the bag with a part number. For critical parts like that I don't skimp. Call Ray at Malloy Mazda or MAZDAMOTORSPORTS.

I've bought different parts from Ebay...though most have been for an antique car I own. It's an excellent source for that. As others suggested...do your homework, know your parts and while it's still no guarantee, examine the seller's history.
There really aren't too many "auctions" anymore on ebay, it's just a fancy Craigslist. But occasionally I find a deal on something for the FD.

Any reputable rx7 company which (also) sells parts on ebay isn't a big deal. If rx7.com (for example) suddenly started selling stuff on ebay than it wouldn't make their parts all the sudden crap (but why not just call them up and speak with them directly???).

Known, and verifiable, parts (which you can get anywhere) are obviously going to be fine. I don't see the point in taking support from the rotary shops and manufacturers that sell quality parts, just so you can save a couple bucks on an imitation product which may, or may not, work as claimed.

To each their own though... I've never put "ebay brand" parts on my FD, and my car has treated me VERY well (even when I "blew" my motor) as a result. On the other hand, we've all read the stories about people who cut as many corners as they can, in order to save a few bucks, and end up paying for it in the end (typically sinking TONS of additional money into their cars than they would have in the first place, or leaving the rotary scene because rx-7's are "unreliable").

I was gonna buy a set of 4 brake rotors from brakelabs off ebay. They were 160 bucks for all 4 rotors, with free shipping.

Really nice slotted rotors, with zinc plating to prevent rusting.

All the feedback was good but then i started to look at other forums and the feedback of LONG TERM use and people say they would have rather spent the extra couple of hundred and gotten better, brand name rotors.

So while it might be all nice and perform well the first couple of months, people started to notice them warping, making noise about after the first year.

I know that is subjective because people have different driving habits but i actually wanna track my car a couple of times this year, i decided its better to spend more, and know full well its a quality built piece.

That being said i saw some "power slot" slotted rotors on another site for 98 bucks per rotor. I might have to go with that instead.

My ebay manifold kept cracking and started to droop. I also had to weld on a new flange because they hog theirs out beyond the crush area for a metal gasket. I had that thing in and out of the car over and over and over.

Eventually I got one from Rx7store, shoulda just got one from there to begin with.
