Ebay Intercooler Done!!

Well after about a month of waiting and test parts the intercooler is DONE!!. Also I got board while i was waiting for my parts so I started painting my rims. I still need to do my rears(in the next week) All thats left is to make up some lose ends and im good. My front bumper kind of got alittle messed up. The intercooler was so big I had to cut the crap out of the inside of it. If you look at the pic of my car with out the frontmount you can see how much i had to take out....and I really needed to take more out, and i cant. Im hoping on getting a different bumper over the winter....but you guys know how it goes $$$. Let me know what you think.

waiting on a fan belt huh?

With all of those little sections and curves on the piping you should have used T-bolt clamps. I don't believe the way you have it will be too reliable.

I can always appreciate custom work though. Nice job for dealing with the bs that comes along with all of that and finishing.

I think they are $3-4 a piece at atpturbo.com but it looks like you'de need quite a few.

Just don't be shocked if they blow off...if they don't change em
Nice work

It's size makes it look really great in the mouth!
I do believe that the stock turbos are much too small to be pushing air through that thing efficiently. The IC is built for a single.......maybe your next project?

Isn't it sort of a bad idea to block the main path for air to the (stock radiator)?

The intercooler looks nice, but I read that the ebay intercoolers wont flow as effecient comepared to name-brand intercoolers, due to the internal fin design.

Theres a very good chance you will have overheating problems with the size of that intercooler.

I had overheating problmes and I was using an intercooler about the same size.
Streetablity was lost because it became unreliable to overheating.
And that intercooler is way too big for the twins.

ALl in all good job, I will be considering one of these set-ups for a drag car I want to build.

You could go to Napa Auto Parts and order some t-bolt claps that are the self torquing kind, very high quality, can hold at least 30+lbs of boost. I bought some yesterday. They were 4 bucks a piece. That is a good price. I replaced all of them for like 50 bucks. We are talking 16 clamps. check it out.

Ya ill def check out those clamps at napa. And yes it was red stock..........then yellow.....now blue. I know its to big for the twins now, but like i said its for my next project. I would have bought a name brand but not everyone can come up with than kind of money. Now that im going to be paying 3+ dollars for gas.....who knows when im going to get around to going singal.

Total came to about $425 then you could subtract the money I got from my greddy stock mount which was $260......so i spent about $165. I thought about over heating so I made a air pickup that runs along the bottom of the intercooler to bring air right to the radiator. Im going to take it out today I'll let you fellas know how everything goes. Thanks for the imput.

Well done!
Looks great and I'm pretty sure it performs just as good.

I also have one of those huge-*** ebay FMIC's made by HYBRID, the intake charge temps are so much lower....

cool, I'm very interested on this. Part of me believes that when buying a brand name IC one ends up paying a little bit more for just the name.
