they are did testing and it turns out this type of cowl does not pull air out but actually sucks air back in try it if you dont believe me, tape some strings to the hood and go for a ride. there is actual video on the net showing this, try searching for it

Well, consider this...if there's positive airflow into/out of the engine compartment, who really gives a damn which hole it's coming in through or going out of? Unless you're trying to go for some nutty top speed runs on the salt flats, it's probably not going to make a lick of difference.

I do think, however, that unless there's some proven benefit as far as *increased* airflow with a mod like this, you're probably better off just leaving well enough alone.

The other thing to remember is that the stock hood clip is NOT that strong, so I would recommend using some bonnet pins to also hold the hood down.

on the air going in, instead of out it does make a kind if sense

that space just in front of the windscreen is where the the air gets compressed by the change of angle after it has run up the bonnet

some cars have successfully put their air intakes there to benefit from the positve pressure producing a mild turbo effect, (forced air induction)

tho even if it is going in as long as it is coming out somewhere it could be helping the airflow

i doubt many 7's suffer from lack of airflow at speed, more likely when they are in traffic.
with the back of the hood lifted hot air rising inside the eng.bay would tend to roll up the greater incline and leave through the greater opening

i would be worried about hood support at speed tho, with the back lifted up i doubt the rubber support stops would touch the hood when closed allowing all the weak alloy to flex and bounce about supported at only front center and rear corners...

Anyone found a picture of this from farther away. I just think it would look like the hood was screwed up.

Why not get a vented hood?

one reason could be that this method (if it worked) could be cheaper

Agreed.

People will do anything for a buck. If you turn your fans on, you can feel the heat gushing out from under the car. Seems like that would work fine for me. And if you are concerned about heat in the engine bay after you shutdown... Get a vented hood. That **** looks rediculous. Even if it is cheap. If you can't afford to do the car right, don't do it.

Agreed!

It looks real ghetto, like your hood doesn't fit,
so you just put some washers between the hood and
the clip.

Just do what i did, buy some high performance fans
and have them run off a power source verses the
temp, which allows you to have the fan on the
whole time the car is running.
