Eastbear ISP VS Hella Upgrade
Hey guys what do you think. Should I cut a little out of the lighting frame to get the hellas to go back and sit like the ISP's (Orginal Lighting with East Bear Kit), or should I just stick with the east bear lights. Note: The Hellas are incredible the ISP's are OK, kinda spotlighteeeee.
Thanks
Chris

How much trimming is necessary to get these lights to sit flush and just how hard is it going to be? I don't think it would look all that bad as is on a black car, but once you paint the kit, it may look like poop with the black showing against the red background.

What I would need to do is pull the lights back to the edge of the housings. I would then put some type of filling material in the holes. I was thinking of rubber but I could use some reflective type of material. I was also thinking about rubber like a gasket and then Demon lights around the light housing itself.

do the hella lights shine better than stock at least? I'm getting mine next week and I wanted to do the same thing. What color do those hella shine? I would paint the covers and see how they look first, they might be ok.

I officially tried out the hellas last night. The H9 bulbs are awesome. I have a VW with HID's. There really isn't a whole lot of difference. I had my girlfriend line up both cars side by side on a dark road. Then burn both lights. The HID's had a slightly different color but as far as visability went they were the same. The Hellas have a beem that is very wide and long. If I were to draw it it would look like a "D" but with a 90 degree turn right. The original bulbs that came with the East Bear kit were OK but they were definately spot light looking. I would give the east bear lights a 6, Stock lights a 3, and the Hellas a 9.
I have decided to keep the Hellas, but I need to figure out how to fix the pod or the lights to make it look respectable. The diameter is roughly the width of a pencil all the way around. I was thinking about moving the lights back and using something, mabey the angel eyes to fill in the gaps.
I guess the bottom line is the Hellas with no lens restricting the light flow are very, very good.
If anyone out there is good at working with fiberglass and is willing to help let me know and we can work something out.

Damn! I thought the Hellas were the same size as the IPF's that come with the East Bear kit. I'm totally dissapointed b/c I was planning on putting the Hellas in as soon as possible.
Are they just bigger around than the IPF's? Do they fit in the mounting brackets of the East Bear kit?
BTW, I think it looks tacky protruding from the housings. They need to sit flush just like the IPF's.
Let us know what you come up with.

Well as you can see below:
There is approximately a 1/4 inch hole around the lighting. I have put in both lights and I really, really like them, I just am going to have to cut a little to make them sit correctly. Yes they fit in the East Bear housings, but the light itself is longer, which cause it to stick out. I will post a picture later of what they look like currently. From the front I really like the look, but I agree I don't like the protruding. I am going to fix this I just havn't found the time.

using fiberglass you can fill in the space and it will look exactly the same if done right. if you have not used fiberglass before it is really easy. pick up a tape from selectproducts.com this will help you alot ($40). this will also hold the lights in place and you can probably use back straps to hold in place. i know alot of people will disagree with that but if the back straps are attached properly (inbetween layers of fiberglass) they work miracles. then you have a flush look without having to move the lights back (maybe causing loss of light pattern.)

Attached is what the latest looks like. Both lights are in and functional. They are just plain awesome as far as lighting goes. The low's need to be moved back about one inch and they will all line up perfectly.
