E Brake Handle

Yes I searched. I need to know how to remove the E brake handle in order to have it recovered. Has any had theirs recovered? It looks as though an upholstery shop would have to glue and sew the thing on. Thanks

redlinegoods.com makes a boot for the e brake, if that's the part you need recovered. They used to have pics and install instructions on the forum but I guess they were removed. You could contact them about this though. Search for redline goods and pm them. Great quality at very reasonable prices I might add.

re-done??

is it in bad cosmetic shape or does it just not offer proper tension?

The handle is basically glued on. Most people end up destroying it when removing it. There are plenty of aftermarket e-brake handles, it just depends on what you want. Most of them are universal fit with allen screws which hold it on. Most people don't like those.

i didn't know there were aftermarket handles available---but i'd rather stick to stock, which is why i asked

I don't think it would be that difficult to recover the stock handle. I recently took one apart, here's some pics:

First, I took a knife and cut down the stitching to split the leather cover open. You will have to peel it off with a bit of force.

Here's the rubber grip still on the handle. There is some glue residue on there that comes off fairly easily.

Next I took a good knife and cut down the underside of the rubber grip.

After about 5 minutes of pulling and tugging I got the rubber grip off. It is still in pretty good shape, you could probably recover it and slip it back on.
