no I'm talking about the extra lenght of pipping and the added rectriction of the stock intercooler.the longer the pipping is the more lag you get.

Not to support this idea but I have seen two stock FD IC welded together. It was an upgrade for an older OLDER turbo car.
Welded together in the sense that an end cap on each IC was cut off and the two cores were then welded.
I think he did it just to try it out since he had some spares laying around.

Dude, if you only used one intercooler you would have more lag on V6s. Having 2 intercoolers actually helps make them spool faster because the piping does not have to meet up at any point. You get away with less piping so you have less lag. So this leads me back to my original statement that the only reason spool up is slower is because less exhaust goes through the turbine portion of the turbocharger.

yes but I'm talking about this case ona FD. one of the reason the MR2 doesn't have a FMIC (but in this case is a little bit longer)

Really? The turbo Buick Grand Nationals don't seem to have a problem with it...

I have the chance to drive 3000gt vr4 twin turbo with dual IC. You're right, the car is lagging like hell.

That might have something to do with it weighing about 3,800 lbs... was it an automatic too?

Automatic? VR4's didn't come in automatics to my knowledge.

I beg to differ. 3S's run 9b turbos, which are just about the smallest turbos I've seen. They can make full boost around 2K RPMs. Although as a result of being such small turbos, they come on strong in the low RPMs and throughout the mid-range. However, they lose efficiency by 4.5-5K, at which boost begins to trail off untill redline.

the point is these cars have 2 turbos and i would assume two cylinder banks. we have 1.5 turbos and 0 cylinder banks so just go with a used bigger stock mount for the same price and probably less
