Duel Intercoolers?
Okay this is probably a dumb question and I don't care if I get for it, but I was thinking the other day why not just hook up an extra intercooler for more performance instead of paying 600$ for a bigger intercooler, with of course all the extra plumbing. I have a touring model, so the passenger side air duct on the front bumper is available space just big enough to put another stock intercooler. What do you guys think dumb idea, or would it work. Thanks in advance for your advice.

built my own engine
and where would you put this? the stock intercooler also faces the weakness of plastic endtanks...don't be cheap with your car, it will cost you more in the end

BOOOYAHHHH!
You would Kill your air flow, not to mention all the piping and adding another IC to pressurize. The stock IC dosent flow well enough. so ad 2 into the equations and well... you see.. Also, the time and money you would spend fabricating more pipes and adding the Other IC, you would of been better off buying an aftermarket IC.

No it's not Turbo'd
If you have the skill to put it there and the spare IC, which I might even give you for S/H then why not.. but if you have to pay somebody... = waste of $$$...
A blitz or m2 SMIC is expensive, but also 3-4X as big as stock, so getting 2X as big with extra IC is going to be waste of $$. Besides people have tried to get a small tube down there to get Cold Air for teh intake since they made the 7, and unless you concider a straw a Cold Air Intake, it's been difficult a best to do....

Well I'm not saying I would do it, just had an idea thats all. I would never risk my car for a cheap bastard mod, unless I knew for sure I would benefit from it like for instance a home depot boost controller. I have never tried this duel intake mod, so I can't say if it would or wouldn't benefit. That's why its better to ask a dumb question and see if you all experts have any opinions. I know its being a cheap bastard, but hey man like the saying goes "no question is a dumb question" or is it "if you ask a dumb question your dumb" j/k. The reason I even brang this question up is many high performance cars run duel intercoolers so this isn't exactly a dumbstruck idea.

The cars that run duel intercooler are the cars taht have exhuast manifolds on 2 sides along with two turbos. Example being 911 porsche turbo, 300zx twin turbo, you get the point.

okay I did make a mistake but this particular one happens to be a twin turbo twin intercooler, so I can say I'm partially right , about this one, anyway. Thanks for the correction btw.

the only reason you there is more lag is because there is less exhaust pushing through the turbos. There are only 3 cylinders on each side of a V6. Spool up has almost nothing to do with the intercooler.

That being said, two intercoolers are probably not a great idea; at least on the RX-7.
