Due you have a front licence plate

How many of you have front licence plates. Does it help the cooling not to have one?

Yes, having a front license plate actually does have a negative effect on the car drawing in enough air for the radiator/intake/intercooler. Most of us don't run one, even those of us who live in states that require it.

I never ran with one on my Talon or my Z. I got pulled over for it several times, but only when I probably deserved the attention (IE doing something stupid, being out way too late, or driving a little spirited).

I would imagine it would affect cooling negatively.

I dont have one, but Im supposed to. I dont do it for cooling reasons per say. It just looks so damn bad. How can you mess up the Fd's beautiful front end with a piece of colored sheet metal? Its a crime. They also tend to slowly rub your paint off.

I have one. The FD I bought came with a mazdaspeed GTC kit. For this reason, the airflow problem is very minimal. On stock suspension, the front end of my car is ~4 inches off the ground, so the air inlet area is huge.

Like aggiefd, I'm running the plate b/c I attract enough attention from cops as is (not that i've ever been pulled over with the 7 yet).

At least the cops are decent enough to pick on the honduhs, and leave the sports cars alone

I agree and don't run a front plate either. Hey AggieFD, where did you come up with that name, let me guess.

I never put one on the FD, and never had one on the FB. Never got a ticket, or even pulled over for it.

I don't have one, but I have the little ghetto holder that I put on when I get it inspected. It actually scratches the paint.
If the cops start getting aggressive on it, i'll just get a 99 nose. The plate at least fits alright.

That's not my car, but as you can see the plate doesn't really block any air. You won't notice any difference in cooling with or without (using the stock bumper and the stock plate holders).

Va cops especially unfairfax cops dont play around. They will site you in a hearbeat for not having one. I got a warning cuz I had the tag in the car under the seat and told him that the "special bracket" was ordered and being shipped from Cali. Got lucky I guess. Tag still sits under the seat

I have to have one. Hate the look too, but it has no effect on cooling.

just put one on. it's not going to make that much of a difference on a street driven car. I drove mine with and without on the street comparing temps both in rush hour NYC traffic and highway. guess what? the temps didn't change.

Man that sucks. I am in virginia and I don't have a front plate on my 7 or either of my Z's and have never once been pulled over for it and even when I have been pulled over for a couple of other things there was NO mention made of it at all.........Knock on Wood

Do not have one on my 7, or my Audi A6 4.2 daily driver. My 4.2 was a Florida car and did not have a plate. To install a plate, you need to drill through the bumper cover- not going to happen! Got one ticket from a meter maid with the 4.2 while it was parked!
