Unhappy Dropped my propeller shaft!

Hi!

I have noticed some vibration from the rear part, then there was a terrible noice with bam bom bang, i stoped the car and towd it to my home.

Its an 1995 with automatic gearbox, when i came home i looked under the car and ALL 4 bolts on the end side ( back ) was gone !!!

The aluminiumbar was shreded and in two pieses ( like a swaybar )

I cant see in front ( gearbox ) but i can pul the propellershaft right back fore some inches, is there someone who have had the same experians ?

What to do, is it just to get 4 new bolts and put it back or could it be a damage in the front part where the gearbox is ?

Is it a lot of work to take the propelershaft down ?

Thanks in advance
Best from Swed

This thread would be a microcosm of the failure of the 3rd gen section in the last year, but i'll give the OP some slack b/c english isnt his first language.

Tow the car to a reputable shop and have them fix your problem.

sounds like someone forgot to tighten the bolts that hold the propshaft to the differential. You should be fine just getting some new bolts for the propshaft to the differential. I dont have any experience with automatic fd's but if the driveshaft is like the manual fd's then it slips out of the transmission. Common guys. Driveshafts are commonly called propeller shafts. Geez. Lol.

Hi !!! its OK now !!

Hello !

Sorry for my "bad" English

BUT as the last post told You IT is a Propeller Shaft ( with two LL ) sorry for that

Im not a pro at this car, just a simple question...

We have take the "Propeller Shaft" down and the splines to the side
of the gearbox looks ok, new bolts and then it works greate!

Some heartbreaking moment when the "Propeller Shaft" turns under the car !!!
Thanks for Your reaplys

Best check the hardy-spicer joints while the propeller shaft is out!

I would get a new or good used prop shaft, or at least take it to a proper shop and have them check it for damage and BALANCE!

The prop shaft has to be properly balanced or it will vibrate, wobble, and possibly shear off the mounting bolts again and it could even damage the transmission or more undercar components; be careful!
