No, the auto has a larger diameter front yoke, and the bolt pattern in the rear is also a little different (though this is easily remedied).

I found my u-joints were shot and you cant just replace the joints. So i just had a new driveshaft made. It was only like $250.

Where did you get a new driveshaft made?

My '86 B2000 Mazda pickup needs new u-joints but like the FD they are not replaceable, so I have in the past purchased salvage yard driveshafts but obviously I would rather have new.

On the U-joints - the FD's driveshaft (and the TurboII FC) have VERY long-lived U-joints. In all the years I worked on FC's, I NEVER saw a TurboII with bad U-joints.

That said, I don't see a reason to try and rebuild an FD driveshaft. If the U-joints are bad, get a good used one cheap and go about your business. But, I just don't see them going bad that frequently, unless you are driving around with a broken PPF and the drivetrain has a lot of up-down slop in it. Since we have the PPF, there's very little work put onto the U-joints.

I had mine made at a local drivetrain shop. They built it with replaceable u-joints. The stock joints had hardly any play and were no good imo.
