Driver side fuse box relocation

Now i know this is gonna be a pain in the *** and about 50 solders or so, but would I need to use thicker gauge wire if i were to move the fuse boxes to the bin along with the battery?

Thanks,
Dan

Why would you want to relocate the fuse boxes?

Get them out of the way, and clean up the engine bay a bit. It's not all that hard, just takes a bit of time.

you sure did.....how can you work around your spark plugs? I would think the fuse box would get in the way. I may have found a connector that would work for the relocation of the 2 fuse boxes, but I'm not sure if it will hold wires in the size i need. Anyway here is the link if anyone is interested. The biggest connector I could find was a mixed 16 way. The only thing I'm unsure of is what size cable it holds.

http://www.delphisecure2.com/site/Ca...asp?vID=146566

and here is some technical info on the plug

http://www.delphisecure2.com/del/att...on/gtmixed.pdf

It tells what size cable it can hold but it's in nm so that really doesn't tell me much.

there's a few good threads about it, people who've done a better job than me. i asked a shop about it and they said it wouldn't be worth moving the fuse box out of the engine bay -the risk of it creating problems outweighed the benefits to them. i can still do plugs from the top, though the bottom is a bit easier for me. i did it because I wanted to clear up space in the driver fender liner so i could install a fan there. thought maybe venting hot air out there might be a cheaper alternative than a hood to fight heat soak.

i moved all of mine to the rear jack "bins"

I've always thought about posting some what of a pic by pic that i did but havnt gotten around to it. I only had one problem when i did it, the horn and the tns relay both share a black with pink wire. Mixed those up. But everything works great and has for about a year. I'm looking to go though and get rid of the unneeded relays but havnt gotten around to it. I imagine i should of done that part first.

coolduke, the relo job looks great. Charlie told me you sent him some pictures and talked for a while, thanks for the info...I'm sure it will be very helpful. Where did you move the fan relays to? Also why did you move the maintenance box? It seems like it would make sense to leave it in the engine bay. I also see you changed the oil pump line to stainless....it looks nice

Also where did you get the powersteering pulley? Thanks for the pictures.

-Dan
