Driver side armrest- removal?

I just need to know how to remove the driver side armrest piece(the one with all the controls on it), I have searched and have put a post up in the interior forums with no luck heres the link

Yep, definitely don't try to pull it out.

The door handle cup can be removed this way: just remove the cover in the bottom of the cup to get to the screw, take the screw out, then carefully lift it straight out. But that tends to break the clips that snap it in, so I think it's best to remove it with the whole door panel.

Be really patient and careful. In the cold weather the risk of cracking something expensive keeps me away from jobs like this completely. I've learned from costly experience.

+1 remove the door panel. call malloy mazda and get the new plastic door plugs when you re install the doors. don't use the old ones its not worth it.
