the problem you get with an on/off type of butterfly opening is that you will get surges and dips in torque, basically it will not likely feel smooth. Typically you smooth that over with spark tuning, but it needs kind of special software to do it. It's common for example on engines with cylinder deactivation that use engine torque models and torque based control. Below discusses how it's implemented on Hemi V8s with cylinder deactivation. In the below chart (no boost on this Hemi), you can see that they are opening the throttle and retarding spark when switching to a lower output mode (4 cylinder). When switching to a higher output mode (8 cylinder), they are closing the throttle and also tapering the spark to keep the torque smooth.

Wondering if you were able to get some made. And would like to get in on buying one. In process of converting mine to dbw. Got everything except the charge pipe. Could easily get one welded. But yours is a way cleaner setup and would bolt right up with my current setup.

Currently, the cheapest quote for the part made from 6061-T6 and hardcoat anodized (type III, black) is as follows based on my step file:
QTY 1 is $770
QTY 5 is $477
I still have to send the official part drawing which may slightly alter the quote, but for a 5-axis part, I am relatively impressed with the price (mostly at the QTY 5). Doing it this way also allows for a smooth, lofted transition from the smaller diameter to the larger.

@fdrx7matt I have actually gotten enough interest that I am getting a batch quoted. You would be the 6th person which will bring the price down well. I will let you know as soon as the quote comes back. If anyone else is interested please let me know. Thanks!

That DBW elbow is excellent! I've been searching the internet high and low for a suitable elbow just for DBW with no luck. My problem is I'm not sure which size DBW
I'm gonna use. I'm wanting to go 74mm but this fine elbow almost entices me to go 82mm. I had came to the conclusion that I would just fab my own as I have good
welding skills and fab lots of stuff already but sometimes its just easier to just paypal and wait. Give us an update when you get your latest quote. Thanks
