I got nittos and they are 225/50. I have not gotten a chance to try them out but they were only $63 a piece.

Cool 255x50x16

BFGOODRICH drag radials (DOT) through Les Swaab. My best 60' though was only 1.8 @ 12psi. My goal is to get a 1.5 60'.

w/ 1.8 60' times I could only get the car down the track in 12.2 @ 110mph w/ 12lbs of boost on stock sequentials.

see ya,

yeah my traps are 110mph too...but i turn a 13.3. I get crazy wheel hop as my 60' vary between 2.35.and 2.5.
Definately need drag radials! What arte you guys doing, just buying a used pair of FD rims and mounting the radials on them?
1.8 is a great time though...whats your technique...please enlighten me!

Drag radials are definitely not the solution to wheel hop. They will probably make it worse. Check out all of your rear suspension bushings including the diff mount. Check for cracks in your PPF. Check your wheel bearings.... and as a last resort you might want an upgraded lsd.

well i dont plan to become a series drag racer...maybe a couple of times a year....just want to get into the 12s.

My bushings and car only have 30k miles so i doubt they could be the problem. What are ppf and lsd?

ppf is the power plant frame and it is located above the catalytic converter and sort of goes around the driveshaft on the drivers side. It connects the tranny with the differential.
lsd is the limited slip differential. It goes inside the differential, I believe, and prevents the tires from slipping by deverting power from the tire that is slippign to the one that is not. Others just lock both tires to spin, known as posi-traction.

PowerPlant frame - braces your tranny and diff to the chassis

lsd - Limited Slip Differential - puts the power to the wheels!!

Wow ... 30k miles? Your car should be ready to go. Hmm.... check your diff fluid to make sure there are no metal shavings. What are you revving at when you launch? What kind of mods do you have?

full exhaust, intake, power fc..i made 300 rwhp at KD and that was after 4 runs. (300 at 12psi)
When i launched at 4k i wheel hopped so bad i had to either let of the gas or shift to 2nd...the wheel hop was violent. I thought i was gonna break something.
I then launched 3250rpm and still got wheel hop. Not as bad though, but still still had a 2.35 60' time (my best out of three runs). The follwoing time i ended up trying to feather out the clutch at 3k rpms but i dont know what i did as i must have went wot to early and started to wheel hop violently again...thus i let of the gas.

Hmmm I dont see why you should get violent wheel hop launching at 4 grand. To change the fluid just jack the rear end of the car up and there will be two bolts on the back side of the differential casing. Take the bottom one out to drain and fill from the top. You will need a pump to get the fluid in though and search the forum as to what kind to use since I dont know off hand. There will be a magnet on the inside of the drain plug. Check for metal shavings on the magnet and in the pan you emptied the fluid into. Then just put the plug back in and fill her up with the pump. While your down there check for cracks in the PPF. If i remember correctly I beleive the cracks are usually on the mounting points to the tranny or diff.

aren't slicks safer than drag radials, since they don't hop?

wat sup matty,

I put the drag radials on my stocks. You can definitely catch better on full slicks. Believe it or not, I didn't get much wheel hop. The only gear that I couldn't get any grip on (which was the one that counted the most) was first gear. I rev up to about 5500 - 6000 rpms then dump the clutch when the third yellow turns ons. You wanna keep your rpms above 5000 - 5500. I've got the sequentials still. I pretty much launched the same with non-sequential set up.

see ya,
