To me, a downpipe's a downpipe's a downpipe. Fitment is really the only huge factor. The RX7store.net DP worked fine for me - $110.

Heh heh heh.....oh man....you will NOT get a definitive answer here!
And besides, everyone KNOWS the 'best' downpipe is the Pettit one, if you opt for stainless steel especially. Perfect fitment, outstanding quality. Can't be beat. Equalled maybe, but not beat.

Anything that is meant for the JDM market (HKS one) will be easier to install because they are designed to have the steering colum shaft on that side. But yes in my second FD I had a RX7 Store dp and it was pretty good.

HKS. Good quality, no fitment issues. Have heard horror stories of the cheap E-bay downpipes.

The HKS is mild steel rather than SS and has a crimp in it that reduces flow. The Bonez SS one from www.rx7.com is a very well made pipe.

not all of them will work. My Fd came with a DP (not installed) when I bought it. I try to put it in and it won't let me put the lower rear nut because it was hitting the weld between the pipe and the flange.

Thanks for the information guys.

Seems like the RX-7 store DP is $139.00 now, do I need a coupon or something to get the $110.00 price or it was just a price increase?

Just ask them if they give it to you for the $110, may be you will get lucky.

Thanks for this suggestion, I did and they gave me the price.

My buying experience from RX7 Store.net ( http://www.rx7store.net/ ) was great (Thanks Jason) with very fast ground shipping that took only 3 days !!!

Buy one now if you need it before they change their mind.

They will be on my mind on the next purchase

Not all downpipes fit well when using the stock cat or high flow cat so be careful what you get. It might cost you more to make the downpipe fit than to buy a name brand one.

If I remember correctly, with Sport Compact Car's project RX-7, they got 269rwhp with the M2 intake and RB catback, and when they added a 3" DP they got 284rwhp.

foamfan, I just want to be sure I have it straight.......that's a picture of the downpipe you bought at the RX-7 store, right? Because it looks damn good. It can't be stainless steel for that price.....or is it?
I take it you haven't fitted it to your car yet......or have you? Please let us know how it works out. Looks like you found a good bargain.

I had this exact problem with the first Bonez S/S DP I bought from RX-7.com. However, I exchanged it for another, and the 2nd one worked fine.

That's the picture of the DP I bought from the RX-7 Store and it does look very good and YES, it is stainless steel.

I havn't fitted it yet since my engine is being replaced. I'll post on how it all works out when the car is done.
