Downpipe Install

Im using the guide in the FAQ here and Im a little confused on removing the pre-cat heat shield. I removed the ABS heat shield and I can see clear as day 2 of the bolts holding the precat, there is what looks like an empty place where a bolt should be on the pre cat right between where the other bolts are, is this was should be holding my precat heat shield on? Its a rebuilt motor, possible it was just never put back on? If im looking at the wrong thing please inform where the hell this thing is!

yup, my precat was falling apart after only 30k miles! I am glad you are getting rid of it, I can't believe that FDs are still on the streets with those things in place.

If you still have the main cat on I would suspect some of those pieces are now in the main cat, you may want to go ahead and remove the main cat and shke it out to avoid it getting clogged from any pieces that may have gone into it. It's easier to do it now while the precat is off and out of the way.
