Question Downpipe and Exhaust

Just joined and spent a few hours last night search for some answers... found most. I just purchased a 1993 RX7 with 55K on it. I'm going to change the radiator still debating which one though.

Now that I've bored you heres my question: I thinking of getting the M2 downpipe and the Racing Beat exhaust. I'm wondering if there is any fittment problems know with that setup? I'd like to get the RB because it seems to be a consensus on it being a bit more on the quite side. Does RB offer a high flow cat and exhaust package? I guess I can call them for that. :-)

Also, anyone in California have a problem passing smog check with the M2 downpipe.

Thanks,

Victor

I have the M2 downpipe and RB catback and I had no problem passing smog .. I did better then I did when I was stock. I had a 02 fitment problem ... I just had the hole pluged and another opened .. no problems after that.

Thanks for the reply Eborham... a couple of questions. Did you see any substantial HP gain with the addition of the DB and the RB catback. Also, what high flow cat did you use? One last one... how loud is the exhaust? I'm looking for something deep and throaty but not load or at least not too loud.

Thanks,

Victor

Iam using the the bonez down pipe and the Apexi N1 cat back system. I've passed emitons so forth with no porbles so far. Only thing with the N1 is it's a some what loud system.

I would say go with a midpipe if you have a PFC or something like that if not go with the Bonez high flow cat

You're not going to get the sound of a LT1 but the rotory has a nice sound too!!

Before you upgrade make sure you have funds for a rebuild. My 7 needs a rebuild and it is at 56K. I would hate to have spent the money for things that arn't necessary when I could have used that money for a rebuild. If you have good compression then add your downpipe and radiator. I've got a Pettit DP and RB duals out the back. Stock cat in good condition. Love the sound, but already have issues controlling the turbos. The install for both was really easy for me, but others have had issues, especially the DP. Get good and friendly with a can of PB Blaster for the bolts. The cat back mostly depends on whether or not someone else decided to put in a muffler and throw away the hangers.

Not too much HP difference, but spool up is a good bit quicker, and I hear the primary spool up. The Honda boyz (and strangely, some VW ones as well, lately) get the message when they hear that little scream go ultrasonic.

Downpipe is very important. That 55k miles on stock precat is not a good idea. Let that engine breeeath! If anything, save the exhaust for later.

I've got downpipe and 3" exhaust with no boost issues. Just get a boost controller.
