Double din Head Unit Fitment & 6.5" speaker issue
Hey Everyone - I recently purchased a 92 JDM FD and have already changed out the whole bose system. Installed some 6.5" speakers in the doors with adapters, amp + sub in the back, and installed a pioneer head unit.

Just had a couple quick questions -
For the head unit referenced above it doesn't seem to fit, there's a metal bracket behind that I'm sure I'm hitting, I have no idea if that is structural and if it's possible to modify that to make it fit, I need about 3/4 to an inch to make it sit flush - is this possible?
If not, could you recommend some newer models that have wireless apple car play that would fit?
Also other random question, I used these door adapters -

And the window juuust hits the magnet, I'm guessing I would have to get shallower speakers to avoid this?
Thanks,

Get shallower speakers. I use some lower end Focal coaxials and they sound great with some real amplified power behind them (not head unit).
Regarding the head unit, get a shallow mount double din. I currently have the same problem, it's just an issue with the depth of most double dins that have CD/DVD players. Now a days all that double din needs to do is work with android auto or apple car play. There is no reason it needs to be that deep. Some manufacturers - Alpine, Kenwood to name a few that have made a Digital media receivers that are shallow mount and are the best solution for an FD at this time.
The problem is a combination of the wires sitting under the bottom edge of the head unit and the metal bracket itself not having enough room. You really have to push the wires into just the right position so it fits kinda flush. Shallow mounts permanently make this an easy problem to resolve. They're also significantly less weight in a design that really doesn't have a solid mounting location.

I used the same speaker mounts and the Kicker CSC65 and had window clearance. The mounting depth is only 1-11/16" on these. You could also add an extension ring if you have enough clearance to the door panel.
For the stereo I got a double din sony that was single din in the back. It leaves lots of room for cables. The RCAs are close to the metal bar that you mentioned and I had to use right angles RCAs to fit it.

Does anyone have recommendations for a single DIN head unit? Dont really want to spend the money for a huge single DIN, and don't really see any use for it for me, personally. Just want to be able to connect my iPhone to it perfectly to play any music I have off Spotify with good hands free features and also future proof it if I decide to upgrade the speakers to something more modern. Don't care for super high powered speakers or anything, just something semi-modern that won't require a huge upgrade in the wiring and amp.

I had a similar issue, I found a few double din units that had CarPlay and a shallow mounting depth. The main ones I looked were:
Kenwood DMX47S, DMX4707S, DMX706S, DMX7706S
Alpine ILX-W650
JCV KW-M750BT.
I found a couple less expensive Chinese/generic head units that had CarPlay/Android Auto for less that also fit the shallow depth requirement but that seems like a bad idea unless you're really cash strapped and just need to put something in there so you can have a working stereo.
Hope this helps.
