don't understand

i have been doing searches on everyone's dyno numbers so i can see what my hp might be like with the same mods. It seems like fds with the same mods differ a lot in hp. For example i found that some cars (stock twins) made up to 330 hp and others with close to the same mods would make only about 280 or so? Why is this so? thanks.

List the mods of the one with the 280 hp and then list the mods of the one with 330 hp and we'll try to tell you why one has more. It'll be much simpler that way.

Tuning is a huge issue..... also, where was the boost @ on each car? 5psi boost and tuning could make a 50hp difference easily....

1 mod, 1psi, or tuning can make a big difference on these cars. Not to mention how good the compression is.

Tuning and lots of little issues that need to be sorted (ignition, plugs, etc.) can make a big difference in how much power the car makes. Boost regulation is more difficult than is often indicated, too, in my experience. It would be cool if more dynos could graph the boost with the power curve.

368 rwhp @15 psi

The 368 rwhp one looks like it has a lot more but really when you look at it it only has is: 3more lbs boost, streetport, larger injectors, lighter flywheel, and a better ignition system.

Notice, they both have larger intercoolers and highflow cats.

Maybe i am wrong but i wouldn't think the mods that the 386 hp FD that the 262 hp FD doesnt have would add up to 106rwhp, right?

The 368 rwhp one sounds a little more realistic than the first one... at least from what I've seen from other people on the forum. And a streetport with 3 more pounds of boost will probably make a good bit of horsepower.

Really, the only performance mods the first one has is PFC, intake, catback, dp, hf cat, and intercooler. 262 sounds really low. I believe stock FD's, at 10psi, generally came in at about 220 to 230 rwhp. Those mods, plus an additional 2 psi should be worth a LOT more than 35 rwhp.

something looks seiously wrong with that first one. I would expect it to make closer to 300rwhp on a healthy engine. could be poor PFC tuning or super low compression.

I was dynoed with the Houston club a little while ago.

Pettit DP, Catback (Pettit/Borla), Pettit underdrive pulleys, Pettit Intake, Pettit hose upgrade (2 IC, 2 others, IC ones removed at least 1 flex hose), Power FC on stock map (the default one). Not tuned. 251 hp @ 11.6 psi (limit under map???). Stock engine with 9100 miles (94).

That 262 must not be tuned.

Could it be due to bad tuning? Just wondering, how much more hp would a PFC make compared to, say, a pettit remapped ecu?

i've read more like 210-220 rwhp for a stock fd.
