Don't seem to have full power!!!

Hi, I just bought a 1992 JDM RX7 twin turbo 2 months ago. There is no modification done to the car. This car is supposed to have near 275 hp, but when I put the pedal to the floor, the car certainly don't have more than 200 hp, because one of my friend with his Nissan sentra SER spec V passe me in third gear with no problem!!!!!

What could be the problem, no boost???

I installed a boost gage and I think i'm getting no more than 5 psi???

What kind of boost this car is supposed to have stock???

Thanks.

Yes, pictures indeed. It sounds like you have a 3rd gen RX7 not a 2nd gen.

First, you need to figure out what you really have.
If it is infact "twin turbo" its a 3rd gen aka FD and came w/ 255hp stock
If it is a turbo 2 its a 2nd gen and came w/ 200hp stock
....Unless its a 2nd gen w/ one of those TD06 twin turbo kits..........

Hmmm, <200 hp........5 psi......sounds like a stock T2 to me.

Whatever it is, there's something wrong if its getting pulled by an SE-R

Post pics.

It's indeed a 3rd gen (FD) but a 1992, not a Turbo II. Mazda change my oil and check the compression, everything is fine. Something wrong with the turbos. But I don't understand, when my car is running the turbos don't have a choice but to turn!!! Why no boost ???? Is there a way to check the wastegate ???

you said you "think" you're only getting 5 psi after you installed the gauge. What does the boost gauge do? it should be pretty straight forward reading PSI off the gauge.. The stock turbos should have 10psi then a slight dip to 8 psi around 4000 rpms and then right back to 10 psi until redline or you lift off the gas.

If its not doing that then its most likely something in the vacuum hose rats nest.
