Hello people!

Could someone tell me what this whole is for? In the lower intake manifold gasket?

and why does the gasket from the manual look diffrent from the one that mazdatrix sell?

not sure what the hole is for but the gasket is different now because Mazda switched from a paper gasket to that multi-layered metal gasket. i think there were too many blown gaskets and as you know that gasket is in a very unfriendly place.

Don't worry...I just finished a rebuild this week. That hole in the intermediate housing doesn't go anywhere if I remember correctly. And on the side housings, on the bottom, the gasket in your assembly instructions shows a rectangular hole but in new gaskets its just a tiny dot.

I've heard it is part of the EGR system. Its talked about in another thread. When I dismantled my engine, my gasket covered the hole also.
