doing a rebuild is a port job worth my while?
hey guys... kinda new to the rx7 scene.
i need some advice....
ok im getting my engine rebuilt... the builder has offered to do a port job for me... now at first i thought he was going to include this in the quote... but now he wants 400 dollars canadian to do the job... Is this worth it? what sort of gains should i expect.... is there anything i should be careful about? Thanks guys..

Constant threat
A mild to moderate 'street port' is a good investment in my opinion. I had this done to my new engine and quite frankly the difference is amazing. As with anything you CAN go overboard but if you keep it "streetable" you'll be fine and you'll love the engine!

I would like to jack this post for a quick question also, somewhat on the same lines.
I am wanting to do a half Bridge port or a Full Bridge on my fd is there anyway to still pass the emmision test with a bridge port.
This will be a lite driven car, inother words i have a few cars and a truck and i alternate driving them,
85 GSL
88 SE
93 TT
84 S10 (454) Drinks more Gas than my FD)
But it will also do some Autocrosses and a few Solo 1 Track days
But i still need it to pass emmisions, and i heard that a bridge port will not pass emmisions. Even with a good Tuning with a Power Fc.
Here is how i make my 12A with No Cat and a Holley 650 on the Super Charger pass. Unpluged the Spark plugs for the front rotor right before i dyno it, and turn the fuel off to the front half of the Double Pumper Holley, wait untill the front bowl is empty so it is running on one rotor, then run the dyno test and it passes will flying colors.
Thinking of doing the same with the fd but pull the fuel injector plug on the Pri/Sec fuel injectors after i get the motor ported and need to make it pass.
So what are my options?
