Dog box FD gear kit arrived

My straight cut, none synchro dog box kit has arrived. Pics are at:

Gear Kit Pictures

Click on small images fro more detailed view.

It is an Australian made dog leg first, direct 5th box, looks superb quality, and only needs minor machining to the stock FD case to allow fitment. It is also available for the FC, and comes complete with billet
gearstick and ****, which I haven't pictured here.

Several of these kits are now running behind serious 2 and 3 rotor turbo race engines with good reliability. I am able to supply them to order.

It is a 5 speed, I also run one here in my Circuit car (here in OZ), the box is fantastic. They have gone for much stronger (wider) gears the same as the Australian touring cars (made by the same people!), therefore at this stage they are only making a 5spd, again this is due to the strength of the gears. The fit it in the 'stock' housing with some additions to increase the strength of the housing etc.

I can really recommend it, the gear change is quick, precise and so fast! Fantastic for street, drag and circuit.

Have a look at their website, the quality is fantastic,

Since those aren't helical gears, aren't they going to make that whining noise that you hear when you go in reverse?

The Quaife ratios are bizarre, if you need a 200 MPH top speed, then OK, for track work the Guru kit is much more appropriate. The rotary turbo is pretty torquey, does anyone NEED the extra weight and complxity of six gears? Even in N/A format the 5 speed should be fine!

For sure, I expect it to be as noisy as HELL. But the end thrust a helical gear creates will be absent, hence less heat and more power to the diff!!

Exactly, and in top gear it is silent!!! Straight through so much more power on tap!

The 'noise' is great, I love the Guru set-up in mine, I have had some of the other ones mentioned here and this sh__s over them!

Nup, real easy, I am amazed. You still have the clutch, so it is no different from that point of view. But of course you do not need to use it if you are wanting a real fast gear change!
