Car is still in the shop but i'm hoping for someone that had the same situation so I can get my car out. You can feel a vibration on the clutch pedal and you have to forcefully shove the shifter and play with the clutch pedal to even get it in to gear. I didn't think I could have installed the clutch incorectly but I suppose it's possible. I also have a new RE-A shifter and a new SS clutch line but don't see how that would make any difference. The pedal vibration could be the chatter from the double plate but I have no previous experience with them. Is that part normal?

Damaged the pilot bearing?
Could I have installed it wrong?
Slave or Master cylinder gone bad?

The trans was working fine on the previous engine and was rebuilt previous to that.

 

get someone to see if the slave cylinder is fully traveling...if so look through the inspection hole on the tranny and see if the clutch disc is being released...if all that is good I'm stumped...

 

It's a pain to get the clutch fork in the right position.

If it's wrong it can kill that clutch. It's easy to bend when (tightening the bolts) you install it too so maybe not enough travel?

 

This is a dumb question, but you did convert from a pull to push, right? I dont know of any twinplates that uses the stock pull system... Could be wrong though.

 

There is no push conversion for Exedy twin (or tripple), which is why it's the most popular choice for high HP.

congrats on owning the best clutch package avail for the fd. i have the exedy hyper single and will probably upgrade over the winter.

here's a few ideas:

perhaps the double has a different installed height? if that's the case, maybe you need shorten the clutch pedal pushrod which is a simple proceedure. other than that i would expect the problem to be the usual...

throw out bearing in backwards would do it.

throw out bearing in correct but not seating into the ringgrooves on the pressure plate fitting.

probably not a hydraulic system problem if you have a high pedal.

probably not a slave cylinder pushod not seating into the throwout arm as pedal would go to floor.

remove slave cylinder. move throwout (actuator) arm back and forth. it shouldn't move as it should be locked into pressure plate. it probably isn't.
