Does this price look about right...?

Hey guys. I've owned Supra TT's and Viper's, but have always wanted a 3rd Gen RX7. I love driving them (particularly the car this thread is about...) A friend of mine has his for sale, and I wanted to ask your opinions if it was a good deal...
1995 R2, red w/ black interior (no sunroof, leather, tilt, etc) with 150k (yes 150,000) miles on the chassis. All major mods are less than 5-10k miles old (have receipts.)
Greddy T-78 Single Turbo
Rebuilt 2 weeks ago with a Large Streetport / Dowel Pinned / 3 mm Seals job done by an ASE certified mechanic that specializes in Rotarys, has 10 weeks left on the warranty
Greddy Down Pipe
SR Motorsports Resonated Mid Pipe
Apexi N1 Dual Tip Cat-Back
Greddy Type-R Blowoff Valve
Unorthodox Pulleys
Greddy Elbow
Greddy 3 Core Front Mount Intercooler
ACT 40% Over Clutch
Shane Racing 9.5# Aluminum Flywheel
Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines
SR Motorsports Ultimate Fuel Pump
-6 Braided Fuel Lines
Weldon Racing Fuel Filter
SX Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator
Power FC w/ Commander w/ Datalogit Laptop Software
HKS Twin Power Ignition
1600cc Secondary Injectors w/ Custom Fuel Rail
Aquamist Alcohol/Water Injection
Magnecor 10 mm Plug Wires
18" Enkei Aegis Wheels
J Spec Tail lights
Nitto 555
extra set of new Road race tires for the 18" wheels
factory wheels with BFG drag radials
Eibach Lowering Springs
Mazdaspeed Short Throw Shifter
Everything underhood is polished/chrome
Eclipse CD player with upgraded factory speakers (no subs)
Upgraded brake pads
Still has factory shocks, radiator, and drivetrain from transmission back (although the tranny was recently replaced w/ a new stock one)
Recently tuned to 440 rwhp at 17psi on 93 octane, with a somewhat conservative a/f ratio.
First owner was a 55 year old man that did not mod the car, my friend has done all mods since he bought it with 80k miles on the odometer.

Problems: front end is cracked on the lower lip (see attached pic), has one or two small dings (nothing major)

He is asking $21500 firm. Is this a good deal? Is it something you would buy if you were in the market for a fast/built RX7?
Thanks for the help guys, i REALLY appreciate it!

IMO, the car is worth what hes asking for. Hes done so much mod to the car and sure seems like a reasonable price to me. 93 base usually goes for 12-15g and that car is a 95 R2. Those R2's are very rare and even a stock one will go for 17-19g. All depends on condition, mileage, etc..

Assuming clear title, no wrecks, and normal wear - yes, definitely. I would feel good about buying that for that price.

150,000 miles !!!!!! some questions you should ask your friend:
who did the rebuild?
what's the vin #? (always do a carfax!)
why is he selling it?
what's up with the fitment of the hood and the front end?
exactly what does that warranty cover?

all and all i'd find it sort of strange that somebody wants to sell a car after throwing that much work into it especially with just 5-10 k put on after the major work
150,000 on an R2, i don't know about that being a good deal, if everything checks out...good luck.

pnoy1duh- i know who did the rebuild, they are very reputible and have a shop specializing in rotarys (not doing it out of their garage ).....
carfax is clean, already ran it. never wrecked......
selling because he's wanting to buy a Supra Single turbo since they are way more reliable. he is a good friend, and i know the history of the car........
front end is lined up correctly now, it was misaligned during FMIC install....
warranty covers the entire motor (rotors/housing/seals/etc), and yes the builder DOES know the car has a T78 and makes 440 rwhp.

dingleberry- your screen name pretty much sums it up. i don't currently have all those cars at once, just a Z28 and Supra TT.

If those are the kinds of mods you are looking for then I'd be all over that. The mod list is perfect except I'd get an upgraded radiator. Otherwise, it looks like a single turbo done right. With the dataloggit software you can get a wideband and tune it to perfection. However, don't expect the motor to last as long running 17psi, that works for Supras, but at that HP level you'll shorten engine life. The single turbo guys can probably give you a better idea. The good thing is a 450HP RX-7 will spank a 600HP Supra at the strip .

That seems like a very nicely modded car and a good price to me. It would cost A LOT more to get a stock car and do all the mods to it.

If I had the 21.5k that thing would be delivered at my house tommorrow.

The hood does seem to have some problems lining up with the bumper from the pics. It could just be out of adjustment from something like maybe he removed the hood? At any rate it isn't something to stress over.

If you choose to buy it I would have a compression test done first as said above. Do it before you buy it so that you know the motor is good and strong and do it before the warranty's up in case it's low on compression.

Jeremy,

I think I need to drive the car before I can form an opinion on it.

My only concern would be the fact that the motor was rebuilt 2 weeks ago and only has 10 more weeks on the warranty. Doesn't sound like they are really supporting their work.

The other thing is an FD with a T-78 and a large streetport is going to have power characteristics that I personally would consider "unstreetable". Nothing like no low end power and then gaining 200 hp over a 1000 rpm band. If this is acceptable to you, then it sounds like a fair price.

$21500 is a bargain. Nice car, if you can afford it.
