Does the Denso Evaporator fit in a Mana Car

Did a bunch of searching and didn't see this specific answer. (feel free to point me to it if you know where I might find it ). The fittings on my mana evaporator wouldn't come apart from the lines at the fire wall, one stripped and the other I ended up breaking. I'm going to go the RX-8 compressor and condenser route and probably JP3 lines, so not worried about fittings. It seems the Denso evaporators are easier to find, so wanted to see if I could use one of those in my Mana car. Can you just swap the evaporators and expansion valve into the mana housing for the heater box, or does the Denso unit and housing bolt to the existing Mana heater box. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has a good Mana evaporator I'd be interested in that as a solution as well.
Thx

The evaporator housings are specific to core type, they don't interchange. You must have a complete MANA or Denso evaporator assembly, either one will bolt in between the heater box and blower as the inlet and outlet flanges are the same. Also note that '93 units are different than the '94/'95, the thermistor control devices are in different locations due to the air bag shape. You can put an early evap into a later model car if you don't mind trimming the dash structure and having about an 1/8" larger air bag gap in the dash.

Denso Evap

Perfect, that is what I was looking for. My car is a 94’, so should look for a 94/95 unit. Is there a visual indicator as to whether the evaporator is the 93 or 94/95 version, or a specific part number to look for?

A '94/95 unit with have the thermistor located lower on the box.

This is a '93 Denso evap, you can see the thermistor control is mounted high.

JP3 made a video to show all types of evaporator and how to identify them. Check it out:

Hi Gregoryp. Don't have any technical advice to offer but I do have a MANA evaporator core that I removed from my MANA equipped '94 available. Feel free to send me a pm if you're interested.
