Does Boost Increase Top Speed?

I was just wondering if more boost could increase the top speed. Actually, what's the relationship between them?

Boost will only help get you there faster. The gearing of you differential will affect your top speed.

More boost will help you go faster by giving you more power to reach higher levels of the RPM range in a high gear.

I.E. more power to overcome the force of the air you are trying to push through.

if your engine does not currently have enough power to pull redline in your top gear (in FD's case, 5th), then increasing power will increase your top speed. As SilverR1 pretty much said, if you are already at redline in your top gear, then adding more power will only get you there faster.

As the FD's top speed (stock) is around 160, how much faster do you need to go?

I'm not sure if mine can pull to the redline in 5th. But I know it will take forever to get there since there's not enough boost.

8000 RPM in 5th gear in an FD is about 200 MPH. More boost will increase your top speed because you are power limited rather than gear limited.
