So, I managed to fry my gauge cluster by hooking it up while the key was turned on. Oops...

I picked up a spare JDM cluster that is also from a '93 in case I needed parts, but I'm hoping to be able to somehow fix my cluster using the spare parts...

Does anyone on here fix clusters or can they point me to someone who might be able to make this happen? I can probably do the work myself, but at this point I just don't want to deal with it. I really don't want to screw up the mileage reading on the odometer...

I've been repairing full clusters for quite some time now, and *thoroughly* inspect ALL components, both for voltage and functionality - not just hook the unit up to a car and see if it is "working" Best of all, all of our work is guaranteed, plus you have the benefit of having someone who's worked on a TON of FD clusters specifically doing the work

See, we sell so many OEM and aftermarket JDM clusters, that this service arose out of the sheer need for it (I thoroughly test each and every cluster prior to its sale, to guarantee against DOA units, which often happen when you purchase blindly from JDM-land). So while we were at it, we also began to offer speedo recalibration & odometer setting services. For the speedo, a 180 kph speedo can now actually correspond to mph (so 60 kph actually refers to 60 mph, 100 kph actually refers to 100 mph, and so on and so forth). And when replacing speedos, the odometers can now be reset to your original cluster's mileage, so you won't have odometer statement issues (which may negatively affect your vehicle's resale value). But of course, adequate proof of original odometer's mileage is required!

Ramy....I've been experimenting with upgrading the meter movement on the stock water temp and oil pressure gauges. Do you guys do anything like that? If so, what's the cost and turn around time?

 

Sorry, I'm not following. What do you mean? Recalibrating them? If you look through VERY old posts (including the "Reliability Mods" threads), you'll see a much talked about topic (from the past, but should STILL be discussed and mentioned now, since it'll ALWAYS be valid) is relinearizing/recalibrating the stock water temp gauge, since it's too heavily weighted in the middle; by the time it moves, the engine's so friggin hot, damage has prob. already occurred. By relinearizing/recalibrating it, it'll be much more sensitive to temp changes, and will actually move with smaller increments of change in temps, so you can notice when the temps are STARTING to shoot up, instead of looking at the water temp gauge as more of a "Rebuild Necessary" indicator

Didn't know you could recalibrate these. I found an article on how to replace the stock gauge with an aftermarket gauge.

 

Wish i knew this earlier i just got a gauge cluster out of another car with a couple more thousand miles. But when went to fix my old one my dad threw it out
