does any one know who can lower the milage of a third gen cluster
does any one know who can lower the milage of a third gen cluster its electronic. I bought a stolen recovery 3rd gen and it need a cluster and i wanted to know how much miles my car has. so i did some descovering and i found out it had 34XXX miles pretty low right. so i either need a cluster with low miles or someone who can get the miles lowered

If you know that your car had 34XXX miles, why do you need a cluster with low miles or someone who can get the miles lowered? First and foremost, you should document the history of the car and the mileage. CarFax might be of some value here since they access those type of records if they exist anywhere. Second, record the name, address, and phone number of the people you contacted that will serve as references to verify the mileage.
When you register the car in your state, you are required by federal law to have the "seller" sign a statement verifying the mileage at the time of sale. Your state will likely have an alternative means of "providing written verification of the mileage" if there is no seller to do this. It seems to me that the records, references, and state verification are your most valuable proof of the actual mileage.
As to installing a different cluster than the one that originally came with the car, I would first contact my state Department of Motor Vehicles for guidance on how to get this done. Explain your situation to them. I would expect they have procedures that you are required to follow to keep everything legal. For example, I would expect that you can probably use any cluster with any mileage. The real issue is to get the cluster installed by someone in an official capacity who will sign a statement attesting to the fact that it is not the original cluster and therefore not the actual mileage on the car.
Why all the "official", "legal", and "verifyable" steps? Because the matter of actual mileage is most critical at the time of sale. By federal law, the buyer has a legal right to know the actual mileage on the car, and the seller has the legal obligation to disclose the actual mileage.

Jonesboro makes good points, in the end the mileage is a very significant issue, legally, morally, etc.
I was told about a friend of a friend of mine that tried to unhook the speedometer cable on his C4 'Vette.....evidently it is filled with a pressurized dye that got all over him, the car, etc....pretty much telling everyone what had happened.
As for asking if anyone knows how to lower the mileage.....there are those that can do it. How to do it on an FD is unknown to me, but a few questions in the right places (read: car dealers) might work. I know a place that SENDS their customers to get their miles rolled back....freaked me out when I heard about it......this is a well respected dealer in the area.....seems that just because you have 50K on your 30K lease, it ain't no problem as long as you are trading in.......

ok to jonesboro i do have car fax and i did do my research the car was from minisota and over there they don't keep file of the milage of the car the only milage was when the car was first registered which showed 8000 miles in 96 and when i checked the vin at the dealer they told me that te car was in the lot till 96. And yea i know that the person who the car got stolen off of has to sighn an alfadaity (I think thats how you spell it) stating how much miles did the car have.
And bajaman if you ask me yes it bothers me that my cluster say 50 instead od 30K. sorry but im picky like that. when people see that knowing im from New York they think ill be Bull Sh*ting. Nah im not thinking of trading because this is going to be my project

well, i could be wrong but im pretty sure on this one.
even if you replace the whole cluster (including speedometer, odometer and related parts) with a brand new one, you will still see the original mileage on your car. the fact is the odometer record is not stored in any parts of cluster. i do not know where it gets stored or dont want to find out.
but im sure there is a person/group who knows how-to access to that specific record. ive heard a group of people in taiwan has already gained access to the most of bimmers' odometer system.
oh, guess it is time to watch my favorite movie 'Matrix' again. :p

Your wrong friend the milage is stored in the odometer i know someone who boyght a white face gauge in it showed the milage from the car that he got it from. i also know this because i had a cluster with i think 6xxxx miles on it and my car read that miles. then when i found out how many mile it my car has I sold it

Considering that you say that the car is a stolen recovery. How did you come to the conclusion that it is supposed to have 34,000 miles when the odometer says 50,000? Even if the dealer said that the car was on the lot til 96. Cars do accumulate some mileage at the dealerships from test drives. ALSO, there are some car dealers that will use their cars as company cars. They will obviously joyride in some of their cars. Also, some really unscrupulous car dealers will purchase vehicles (this applies to cars, yachts, and any type of motor powered vehicle) for their own personal use, but register the vehicle under the dealership. That way, the car dealer (not the dealership) will not get taxed on the vehicle. Trust me, I do know of a particular car dealership where the owner purchased a very nice yacht and registered it w/ the DMV w/ a "Intent to Sell" statement. (I used to work as a loan processor at a bank and there is a lot of stuff you can learn from loan applications. I also handled the DMV work...that is how I know.).
If you're saying that the mileage on the gauge is due to the fact that someone popped in an old cluster w/ 50,000 miles on it...then simple logic tells me to get a new cluster from a dealer ($$$$$$) or contact Mazda Recycling.
