do you think this would be a good trade?
I bought a 93 FD a couple months ago that looks and runs good so I dont really want my 95 that runs good but needs alot of body work and a paint job too much anymore. I was lookin around on craigslist and found this 2002 WRX that has no 2nd gear. I was thinkin about tradin for my 95 with apexI intakes and catback and ebay DP and MP. I thought the WRX was priced a bit high with the trans being messed up but thought it would still be a good trade. What do yall think?
My FD needs the rear panel (behind the bumper where the hatch latch is) to be relaced or repaired, probably just replaced (bout $350 from mazda) and it needs a hatch a bumper and tail lights. I already have a good bumper and tail lights for it. it has some fairly minor damage on the lower rear pass side quarter panel behind the wheel and the drivers door handle is broken on the outside and the drivers seat is really wore out and needs to be recoverd or replaced. the car prolly needs about 4-5k put in it. runs good though with 92,xxx miles on it.
Here are some pics of the FD and pics of the WRX are in the link above.
Thanks ahead for your input.
I have the headlight covers, they are kinda messed up but repairable.

and yeah I'll still have a 7, Ive got three including the 95. I have a black clear cote peeling 87 TII that Ive had for 5 years and hasnt ran in 2 lol. My 93 is a MB base. The motor only has around 20,000 miles on it. Its real clean on the inside and the paint is in real good condition, there are a couple hardly noticable dings on it and two very very minor little dents that have paint damage. Im happy with it... except for that damn vac/boost leak I cant find and the pass side window motor only wanting to roll back up when it decides its ok too.
Its a 95, I checked the VIN when I bought it. Somebody for some reason did some interior swapin on it.

The trade depends on what you want out of the car. As you said, the FD needs a fair amount of bodywork. If you have the means to do so personally, you could easily sell for much more with it cleaned up & in order.
On the other side, if you are looking for another car as a daily, the WRX could be beneficial.
I want to warn you about 02-03 WRX drive train's. They are known to be week. Because of the added traction of all-wheel-drive, many owners find themselves dropping trannies & center diff's frequently. The fact that this car has a crap tranny indicates that it was shifted hard frequently or launched.
With a tranny replacement comes a new clutch as well. Just look over the car very well, if you decide to do it.

So is the 04 and up alot stronger and does it bolt right up? maybe I should try and get one from an 04+ to relace it. I dont really have the means to completely fix up the FD and I really dont have the motavation anymore lol, and I really could use a daily driver. What do you konw about the motor thats in the 02? Are they good strong reliable motors?

The engine in the Wrx are nice and solid but the drive line sucks. If you are going to be race/ daily driver then you would need to swap in the sti driveline but if just a DD only then just replace the trans and roll out
