I have now expelled coffee through my nose onto the keyboard.

Thanks guys, you have made a long afternoon waiting for a large software project to compile a little less boring.

gordon was at the NJ BBQ his car is amazing ! i'm working on getting my car into the same class as his although its gonna take alot more money! LOL

if you want i can talk about how Ito @ JR's Rotary Performance made my 89 TII go from low 15's to mid 13's on street tires with ease. the engine eventually let go with around 150,000 miles and low compression after a 13.8 run at 101.5MPH. he also made a custom TID after my rubber one broke on the drag strap. that car had atleast 50 drag runs and made it to MADS 500 miles one way and both days of driving on the track and back without a single problem Ito also fixed my idle problem on my 89 GTU that i had for months in 5 mins for FREE. another rotary shop worked on it and installed the throttle cable wrong causing it to stick at 1500rpm. he also checked my 6ports cause the same shop said they were working but didn't work. got those funcitioning again in about 15mins there is a reason my FD has $20k dumped into it @ Ito's shop. i have no doubt he will do a great job on the whole car.

PFS is ok in my book. i personally don't like their product line. i have never actually dealt with peter but i almost bought a 94 MBM with a PFS PMC in MD it ran "OK" nothing spectacular though. at the time it was decent but there are so many better options out there now for almost all the products he carries. specializing is good but you need to keep up with the times.

everyone can have a different experience with every shop. nobody is perfect. to say one shop is the greatest ever is wrong. its all opinion. everyone has a favorite and disfavorite. we are all allowed to make our own judgements

Rikki, it's humilating for me as an RX7 owner to see you wear knee pads while sucking on Peter's Peter.

PFS Actions:

This is very suspicious. He tunes your car with a new reman motor for free. Next week you blow it up during the hot weather we've been having here in D.C. My bet is that it's too farking lean. Now he's offering to remove, street port and assemble for free. WTF? Have you bent over and done an anus check to see if Peter's Peter is in the proximity?

I've a reman motor in my car for 6 years with 2 year on the PFC.

It's also humiliating to see Peter out whoring himself to gain credibility. He's lost it a long time ago when he decided to sue Gordon.

PFS blaming his lawyer:

Haha, I posted this on the big list when Peter first bragged about how he's going to destroy Gordon in Fed Court. I'm not a smart lawyer like the one Peter hired, but hell you don't sue defamation and slander in Federal Courts. Those are common law issues best left to the State Court. I told Peter this and he said to Fark off. Haha, I'm laughing my *** off now.

I didn't even read every post here. I tried but It just gives me a headache. Black 99 if you read my post cxarefully you would see that My point about about Ryan and the BBQ was to point out that he talks to lots of older people. I guess whom ever said that older people pay him no mind was under the impression we hang at the Hardees parking lot or something. Yes I know I will flame anyones *** in a heartbeat. So good point I'll shut my mouth there.
I've seen Peters evidence so I don't see how he could have tricked Gman when the quote for the engine stated that it is used. WTF. I obviously don't know the whole story and am not trying to take side as I like both Peter and Gordon but. It's kind of hard to miss the part on the reciept that says USED.
Pretty straight forward stuff wouldn't ya think.
I'm done with this post. It's going nowhere fast and It only makes me want to kill myself.
I won't be back so have some fun at my expence if you want. I don't really care that much.
See you all elsewhere in the forum..

Gordon - missed ya man, but I understand somtimes things just don't come together when they should. Next time...
------------------------------

I've been sitting back reading this (lots of reading!). Boy, all this over a blown motor! Wheeew.
Everyone has his/her own opinion, and they are entitled to that opinion. None are wrong.

One thing I have found in racing - you may win a race, you may win a bunch of races, but you are never the best. As soon as you think you are the best at something, along comes someone who will lead you around the track like a lost puppy.

There are a lot of good people out there, but I'm always hesitant (sp?) to say anyone is best. I'm sure PFS is good, along with several other shops, but you can't erase the fact of his tarnished past. He is the only one that can redeem himself in the eyes of the "Rotory World". It sounds like he is trying, and to that I give him credit.

I wish Ryan the best of luck and hope PFS gives him the support he needs to get his car running.

I'll go back to the NE Forum now - hell I don't even own an RX-7!

Ok I lied. I'm back but only to amend my original statement about G. man. The motor was sold to him as an "exchange" not used. The Greddy t-78 was what was sold as used. It was stated this way on his invoice when the car was picked up. Not as I originally said as a price quote.
Ok now I'm gone from this thread for good. Bye you angry little people you....

would just like to make a comment. I am new to the site. and its great.. I know a thing or two about fd3s's.
and this whole thing about pfs is kinda disturbing.
Like someone said before.. the Jury gave a verdict
and thats that.. PFS guilty as charged and now has
to pay the consequences..

dont be a rikki.. hope everything works out for you.
but i am sure with or without pfs you would be ok.
Just sit back and think, if your motor wasn't under
warranty??? and you had to pay out of pocket 2K
for a new motor.. Think if you weren't so good with
a wrench??? Pay for a removal/install???? Do you
think that Mr Farrell would of paid for your new motor?
and Labor??? As a unbiased person.. $300 bucks he is
saving you on a portjob is basically hush hush job
on you. Ever think. Maybe you could do your own Port
job? OH and if I was you I would be sure to write down
engine id #'s Vin # or what ever.. To be sure. PFS actually puts the new reman in your car, instead of a beat up 100+ ported motor.. a la monsen..

If I was you I would throw away that PFS piggy back system that you currently have.. How many motors
do you have to go thru to realize it is outdated and
risking a blown motor.. regardles of how well its tuned..

I like most do not think its just coincidence, that a week
or two after pfs tuned your car, and then your motor goes. I went to your web site. **** you probably know
more about fd3s's than i do.. With all the mods and and reliability mods you have done.. You would think your
car was safe.. Well until pfs tuned your car...

goodluck

I would really like to know. What driving circumstances you were in before she blew.. Was it Wide open???
Cruising?? or what?? before you noticed she died??

After finally reading through all of this...

Like slingshot just said I would get rid of the ECU and switch to PowerFC. It is an extremely nice and friendly unit as well as tons of support on the forum. RedFD switched over and is happy; correct me if I’m wrong Mike.

I don’t have a problem with PFS; then again they haven't worked on my car yet. I have been fine doing most of the work with my friends and I. If something were to come up where I needed to take it to a shop I would probably give PFS a call to see what they can offer. Every time I have been up there or asked a question they are always very friendly. Not to mention some of their custom work is well done.

If I was in Ryan’s shoes I would be extremely happy that I am getting someone to help me work through the problem. It does seem really sketchy that his motor popped after the tuning but there could be a number of things and it's hard to pinpoint.

Correct me if I am wrong, I believe the details are 0 compression on the rear rotor. Driving circumstances were a few wide-open runs.

I think Ryan is a great guy regardless of where he decides to get his work done. He is always there when I need an extra hand with my car.

Holy ****, this is a long *** thread. I'm with 7-sins on all of the issues. Especially about how Ryan helps people out. He's worked on my car several times for nothing more than a few beers and a lot of laughs.

I'd bet he'll go with a remapped stock ECU but I wish he'd reconsider and go PFC.

Ill chime in...pfcs are a PIA to tune properly...and they have ten times less resolution than the haltech...or motec etc...

if there is a shop in your area that can tune it...go for it...but xs nearly blew my new motor/ceramics/m2 turbos as you have probably read about...with their shoddy guesswork maps. I know what it is like to deal with bad tuning...so do guys like mr monson..spyfish...and goodfella....as well as others.

I regret not going haltech...it sounds to me like its a PIA to install but once its right its right....sure you can just plug and play the pfc..but good luck getting it tuned...there are plenty o peeps around here that have no motor from bad pfc maps. be careful with who you have tune it if it goes that way. people go with the pfc because they think its easier...they plug it in...the car runs...then they cant find a dyno tuner in the state that heard of the thing and the tuners that do sell them dont have "authorization" to tune the thing...total bs in my book....the others can be tuned by an experienced local tuner more likely...and that alone is worth the install time.

but on the sake of looks...the pfc at least looks better than that ancient joypad ya got plugged in now.

How did we get side tracked from Rikki stroking Peter to the merits of Haltech and PFC?

Anyway, I was looking at both Haltech and PFC. Since I didn't plan to go single turbo or to redo the wiring harness, PFC was the choice for me. SR tuned the maps pretty rich with conservative timings. I know because I tried to blow the motor in 99 degrees weather with half a dozen WFO runs.

Off Topic- English Grammar. The phrase "If I was ..." OR "If it was me ..." should always be "If I WERE ..." or "If it were me ..." It's English. Go Figure.

Well as many of you guys no I was at the DBAR BBQ and had a little car trouble when my motor went POOF after take'n a cruise! so I got a ride home with FD3BOOST and RX-Midget was kind enough to let my car stay in the driveway and 93 R! got it towed today and called in the motor damaged to the reman facility and got a new motor as it turns out Dave(FD3BOOST) was in the area so he was kind enough to pick it up and by this time I had called Peter with my upsetting news and he said "Man I am sorry to here that we need to get you on the track for the 18th Imstar race and tear up the strip so lets get you a street port" I said dam dude I am not going to have that kinda cash and he replied"Noway it will be done at no charge" I said dam dude you are really the Man so all of you nay sayers talk alot of **** about him well I have to say it aint so bad being a PFS customer is it..... Just goes to show ya that anyone gets a bad rap when everyone turns into a lemming! So just to let you know this is a great example of how PFS is First class all the way around and no I will be Supported from Him and his staff they have been real helpful Kudos to PFS and just another great story about PFS yup and I will continue to start threads everytime I have a "moment of Magic" at least that is what we call it in sales when you turn a bad thing in to a good thing (or something like that)

And you're probably the type of person to take your 7 to a mechanic when something "breaks" in it. And I'll bet that the mechanic you bring your 7 to probably can't spell or structure sentences properly in written form, but can "fix" what you "broke".

Get off of Ryan's BACK!

Please don't harass him for "gramatical errors". He has shown that he knows FD's. Let him help people on the internet. It's FREE isn't it?
