do you guys care if u have touring, base, r1
just wondering if you guys care whether you have a:
touring
base
r1
i have a touring however, i soo would rather have a base cuz of the non sunroof, and i really don care about the bose either.
just wondering if you guys prefer a certain model.
of course having an r1 would be great, but besides suspension performance, do you guys really care which model you have?

Wishin I Still Had The FD
The R1 is obviously the most sought after FD. However, I personally like my Touring. I like having the sunroof. All of performance differences between the two models, most people end up upgrading anyway.
Bottom line, I would say the main thing to consider when looking for an FD is the tranny. Manual or bust!!

I like my sunroof. I also like the rear wiper on the back glass, though I think you could find R1's with that, but they're rare. That being said, I wish I had the extra oil cooler and the non-bose system.

Back in the day when i was looking for my FD it was a search for a touring or nothiing at all. It depends on your likes and dislikes. For me, I love the sunroof and leather and would have it no other way. Plus to me, those and having the original Bose as options, help in apreciating the value of the car IMO

I'm really happy I stumbled upon a bone stock R1 with 27k miles on it back in 1998.
The black interior, kickass seats, dual oil coolers, and lack of cruise control and rear wiper really make it worth holding out for an R series in my opinion. Some days I do wish I had a sunroof though

First off, I must say that I love my base model. In my opinion, the best seats of the three...
However, I would love to have a sunroof. I have owned sunroofs in previous cars and I loved them. I am a shorter guy (5'6"), so I would not be too cramped with the sunroof.
Best solution...own one of each!

but in responce to the title of the thread, it doesn't matter to me what model I have. A touring and a PEP may have sunroofs, but they are still very much so FDs.

I'm not sure why most of you don't like "creature features."
By not getting a R1, or base, I don't think I gave up anything. Having a rock hard suspension doesn't appeal to me. A second oil cooler is not really necessary for me, but if needed, I could add one.
The only other difference I know of is that you give up a little excelleration. No big deal when you consider that the little added weight can be compensated for if you really want more performance. How hard is it to go from 255 to 300 engine HP? Not very.
- Having the rear W/W is great when you get caught in snow or rain.
- Having the sunroof is great on a beautiful day - especially if you are used to having a vert and like seeing the sky.
- Leather, I could take or leave.
- Cruise is great - especially if you drive long distances like me.

I recently just purchased my FD it has been at the body shop since I bought it, and just a few days ago I started to wonder what model i had which has become a no brainer a touring. I see myself as the kind of person who deserves the luxuries of life so all my vehicles have to have the same criteria. Leather, power everything, sunroof and any other amenities that make me feel like king. As far as performance I never stay stock so Im not worried about the extra oil cooler stiffer suspension or being a little lighter on the interior. If the r packages maybe had some HP differences that might push me that direction. But honestly im just happy to finally have a FD.

When I was looking for an FD, I didn't care what model it was. I just so happen to come accross a 59,000 mile Silver Touring FD in bone stock condition. I'm happy that I got it. I love my sunroof. I love my bose speakers (got an alpine head unit), and I love my leather seats (until I get racing seats). My car just seems nicer than the more hardcore racer interior guys.
