Question Do I have a cloged pre. cat. .

here are my symptoms 1. Only up to 7psi on primary 2nd is fine, which it falls on its face on take off. 2. Just idling either its my turbo or "pre-cat" BLOWS RED. 3. Some times when I mat it, it smells weird "kinda like really stinky wet socks on hot coals". 4. The car has 49,000mi on it, which I think is mostly the life of a stock pre-cat.
My main question is, do I have a cloged pre-cat? Any repyles would help thanks Dan.

Not 100% certain, but you should replace it (preferably with a downpipe) now. A clogged pre-cat can cause boost issues and it will be difficult to determine what the boost problem is unless you eliminate it.

sounds like it is, the smell i dont think is related, but the pre cat serves no function to us, do your motor any your self the favor and get rid of it and get a dp...

just think, better boost response, less iunderhood heat, less stress on the turbos...

precat=nothing but problmes

get rid of the POS pre-cat and install a nice 3" stainless steel downpipe.

performance wise, all downpipes are the same. dont get a cheapo mild steel. get a stainless steel one. most people get the M2 or Pettit. i like the M2 since you dont have to remove the turbo studs, and that is a huge pita.

You might as well replace the O2 sensor too. I used the less expensive Bosch unit and am very happy with the results.

if i was you i would get a "cheapo" mild steel one and get it ceramic coated. it would help reduce underhood heat even more. you could even get it coated in a chrome type color so it would look all shiny for JoeD.
