Do big guys fit in 7's?
Hey all, starting to look at RX-7's and I was wondering how much room they have for the driver. I'm 6'1", 250lbs. Am I evey going to fit in one? Also, what is the weight capacity for them? Thanks.

i have no clue on weight capacity but do a search on this and you'll find a ton of threads on this. pretty much the answer is get one without a sunroof and it will be tight if you wear a helmet (autocross, track). when i sat in a member's car who i believe is that tall or taller, he had an aftermarket seat with custom brackets on the stock rails and i couldn't see over the dash (5'8"). so even if its tight stock, you can improve on it.

Yes big guys can fit on in a 7. Search for a topic like "how tall are you guys." not sure if thats the exact name. But many people that were tall and big said they fit.

I've got a friend that's 6'1" tall (pretty light tho...like 160 or so), and he fits fine in his R1. I did manage to squeeze a friend of mine into my base model and he's 6'9", and though it was tight, he fit. He wouldn't have been able to drive it though.

I don't think the height will be a problem but the weight may be. My friend is like 5'10" and must weigh from 250-300 and he hates to even sit in one because it must squeeze his rolls. He likes his Prelude, but I think his car feels like a couch. I am 5'11" 160lbs and I fit grrreaattt.

only person I know that doesn't fit into my car is one of my friends, he's 6'1 but quite heavy. yeah, I mean he's fat.
So, I guess if you are not too heavy, it should be ok to fit in.
but not sure about doing things like toe-heel, cuz even me having a hard time to do it sometimes. I am 5'9

Hey, vinDiesel or Dom or whatever you want to call him didn't have any trouble fitting in a 7 and he's a big *****! You just have to lean your seat waaaaay back which makes you cool anyway....
(sorry, I'm a smartass)
I'm 6' but only about 160 and everything fits perfectly. Like others say, weight mgiht be the only restriction, depending on how you wear it.

I'm 6'3 175lbs. Its a tight fit in my R1, and I have to put my right leg in first to clear the wheel when I get in, but once I am in there I am OK. I'm thinking of getting a smaller wheel to ease entry.

But I'm 6'2" and weigh maybe 240 now. I fit ok. Don't expect an easy heel -toe (it's more like a toe-heel), and it's rough when racing with a helmet, but it works. Smaller steering wheel (or "d-cut" wheel), lower seat, and widefoot pedals, and you'd be good to go.

I'm 6'-1" and weigh ~245 (approximately the same as your description). I have to set the seat all the way back and then lean it back some too. Suprisingly enough it is still pretty comfortable; you just gotta forget about using the visors - they block all line of sight out the windshield.
I hear that aftermarket seats can help out too with head clearance if you can afford 'em; I could use an inch or extra for driving with a helmet, but without one is no problem.
