Do 20B conversions "ruin" a otherwise good FD?
Tabarnak...
is this even a question? should i drop a 20b or not? hell yea you should!
you dont have to go all crazy and go single turbo right away, you can use the stock twins or go N/A and if you want to go big single later on you can. just don't cut any corners and you will end up with one hell of a car and your FD will be more valuable.
No A/C = Not a Street car.

I dont drive my FD nearly enough to where Im concerned with A/C, and honestly where I live it rarely gets that hot to where windows down isnt good enough.
why not keep it though? if is there and it works just leave it.. is not like you need to get rid of it in order for you to drop the 20b.
If you do decide to sell your car eventually you will get a lot more money for a 20b swap over a lsx swap.
I will give you more reasons but i dont want to make this thread a rotary vs v8 thread..
Can't wait to see your car again.
That being said, I dont know anything about what each cost. Just that "resale value" doesnt mean much unless you factor in what it cost to get that "resale value". I also know the LSx FD's seem to go in the high teens to mid 20's. 20B cars are rare enough to where I cant honestly say I know what they go for.
I completely disagree, it's all in the application. I'd love to hear your reasoning, even if by pm.

Im not concerned about resale value at all. I don't really plan on ever selling my FD, and even if I do, that should have no bearing on what I want to do to enjoy it while I have it. Ive been down this LSx vs 20B idea in my head 1000 times. As I mentioned before, I even had most everything I need to swap in a LS1. At the end of the day I realized the N/A 20B would cost more, probably be slower, get worse gas mileage, more pain in the *** to work on, harder to source parts for if something breaks.. etc etc. But I also know that I would enjoy it more, and at the end of the day thats all that matters. I wouldnt knock anyone for a clean LSx swap, as I do still love them, but hearing a lumpy 2-rotor idle and then the scream at ~9k rpm will make it all worth it for me. Ive always kinda joked that Id like to build a slightly bigger elise, rather than a smaller corvette.

That puts the actual weight of the car right at what jjshaloam found also and I'll take 2,800 lbs. and that amount of HP any day.
