Damn nice solution and a good group buy value!

My situation is a little different. I purchased a car that already has two antennas on it! The stock antenna is powered, goes up and down when I turn on the radio, but the head unit is connected only to a tiny aftermarket antenna at the top of the hatch glass.

I disconnected the OEM. No sense in listening to its motor over and over if it isn't connected. Wish the PO had done something clever like your solution! '

I did the Halfspec engineering antenna. Looks great and works! See my build thread for photos.

Also, I found out that my wife's 1995 Ford Probe has a power rear antenna- the Probe being a Mazda/Ford hybrid car, her power antenna is exactly the same Mazda part number as the power antenna in my FD...

Which then led me to wonder, if the Ford Probe is built off a Mazda, then maybe a Mazda 626 and MX6 power antenna is the same too... And whaddya know. Ford Probe, Mazda MX6 and 626 all use the same power antenna as an FD3S RX7.

So next time you're in a junkyard somewhere, grab an MX6/Probe/626 power antenna from the early 90's as a spare for your FD

Or....ordering the Ford part at your local Ford dealer or favorite online source. SA3R, this is great investigative work!

Ironically, I was wondering a few weeks ago, after seeing a rare clean Probe GT from that 93-96 gen, if any of those parts where shared with the FD.... the Flat Rock plant at where they were built is about 30 miles from here. I guess the answer is yes! Maybe we'll find other goodies that platform share.

Iunno there should be a thread about "interchangeable parts"
