hi guys i already installed my m2 catback. but my bumper is getting black with the **** coming out from exhaust , im tired of polishing everytime it get's dirt ,few time ago i was looking on internet and i found a piece of carbon fiber molded with the bumper form so it doesn't get burn or dirt but i dont remenber were i saw it ....the other option is going to a muffler shop and putting a little bit back but thats what i dont want ..
please guys how can u help me asap..thats getting me crazy.

With the RE Amemiya muffler, he welded a 90 degree bend at the end of the muffler so that it points down. Supposedly, it cuts down/eliminates the black bumper problem.

i've seen alot of people fab thier own bumper guards out aluminum.

 

i think if you go to a muffler shop, they can weld in an extension if you want to do that.

just get some aluminum sheet metal, a drill and a bit, and some rivets with a rivet gun, and put it right above the tip, now all u need to do if it gets black is wipe it with a damp rag...problem solved.

 

A little elbow grease and some Mothers pure carnuba wax will get the soot off the bumper. A bumper guard will keep the exhaust from melting the paint and/or bumper but soot will still collect around the bumper guard and lights. Just keep it clean every week or so and you'll keep it from seeping into the urethane. Tip: take out the reverse light to get around it too. Also be sure to rub the wax in really well, it will take some work to get it off but it will come off. Also, do the same to your tail lights because the soot will build up on the Passenger side light and start to discolor it too. Try out my idea, you'll be surprised at your results. Plus it's cheaper than welding an extension on to the tips and/or a riveted bumper guard. P

Crud Cutter, from home depot. Comes in a white bottle with a red label. About ZERO elbow greaves. Takes the stuff right off. I'm not certain how corrosive it is to the paint, however, I've used it about 5-6 times with no problems. I keep a bucket of soapy water with me and a soaked wash mit. Spray on the Crud Cutter, wipe with soapy wash mit. Comes off like all other dirt on the car.

I know there are others on the forum using this....I search and found the answer from much more tenured members.

I've also been told bug and tar works. However, I'm suspecting that required a bit more elbow grease.

yep i made it, i have 1 more left if you want one. (my mold broke so i cant make any more untill i fix it or make another one)

ill be gone to cali for about 1 1/2 weeks though for a vet school interview so i might not respond (unfortunatly ill be missing D1 by 2 days ).

get a rag moist with simple green and it wipes right off. I don't spray it on the car, though. I'm not sure if it's good for the paint or not... it hasn't hurt anything in the year I've been uising it, though.

 

You don't like the black that can be wiped off, so you want to put a cover on and have a permanent black(or silver) spot that will also get dirty?

Its not your muffler's fault.

There's nothing you can do about rear bumper shmutz, its a rotary fact of life. Once my car is clean, i make sure to wipe the rear off with quick detailer fairly often before it builds up too much. If it does, I use a clay bar for the heave crap, and wax it again. That little bumper guard won't do squat for the shmutz, though it may prevent melting from heat.
