Direct Wire the A/C Compressor?
Direct Wire the A/C Compressor?
I want to put a direct wire on/off switch on my A/C compressor because it doesnt work with my PFC. Anyone have a link to how to do this?
That wouldn't be very difficult but you might take a look at the powerfc section, there are some solutions to the problem.
If you still want to directly power it though, there is a single wire coming out of the compressor which just needs to be switched to +12v to activate the clutch.

Yeah I thought it wasnt too hard. Anyone wanna link me a picture or wiring diagram since I'm lazy?

You can bypass the PFC right at the ECU by cutting 2 wires and jumping them together. This is the best way to do it as it retains use of the dash AC button.
I dont remember which wires to connect, but that is the write-up you should look for.

This sounds good. Does anyone remember where they found it?

I would not bypass the thermoswitch or the pressure switch. Attaching the switch before the thermoswitch would be safer. The Body Electrical manual in the stickies has a wiring diagram,
If your compressor does not kick in that could be 4 thing wrong according to the shop manual, however at the compressor should always have constant 12v, I just found my issues tonite why my compressor does turn when I puh the a.c button on the dash. I trace the wire from the compressor to the AC relay box and it's the blue/black wire that send volts to the compressor but first it goes to the pressure switch connector and then the red/black send volts to the compressor. Mostly like you probably have a broken wire somewhere there to the connector pressure switch.

look in the power fc forum section. There is a relay mod that ou can do that allows the PFC to control the a/c. I know it works cause I did that mod and my a/c worked great until my thermosensor crapped out.
care to link it up, i just searched that section and couldn't find anything
