Dimmer wire issue? No lights in cluster or center console
Hi
I've been owning my FD for around 3 weeks now. Everything is working good except the cluster lights and the AC center console lights are completely dead.
My dimmer decided to burn up one day, smoke came out of the center console. So I guess the dimmer is the one that provides light to the cluster and AC center console, and it must have already been bad.
Now after I cut the wires of the dimmer, (everything was melted together) there are three wires that powers the dimmer unit.
Black (ground?)
Red/Green
Red/Black.
I took my voltmeter and checked each of the red wires to the ground wire. Both of the red wires gives +12v each.
Is this a sign of a short? Should both red wires provide +12v each or should only one of the red wire provide +12?
What i've done:
Checked and replaced all fuses under steering wheel.
I'm not good at electrical stuff and I've tried looking at a wiring diagram and I have a hard time understanding it. I'm trying to learn but I would appreciate some help.
