differential / Transmission insulated brace
There are some solid trans. diff. braces out there and they are not complicated to make but I am really trying to design one which has isolation mounts much like what most cars have. I must admit I don't want to use a hard compound ether. Has anyone seen any design that looks like it might work? Any illustrations or pictures. There is just so little room to work with. I see the diff braces and wonder if using a mount on all three contacts points would be effective. Most mounts line up under or over the load. There must be some design out there. Has anyone put a bump stop type mount above the differential? That looks to me a real good possibility.

Still configuring the mounts
lots of readers but no responses, its a tough one to come up with a system with mounts. Theres just not much room to get the correct geometry. I will keep working on it and will post some pictures when I am finished.

Diff brace on and working great!!
Well the first design is made and installed. I ran it down the road easy and it works perfect. The diff/trans/engine are staying put, not moving. The gear shifter is firm and the greatest thing is no added vibration at all!!!! I mean nothing, if anything theres less. Northing's moving around. I used a round motor mount and it's doing its job well. I think my ppf was getting soft and now it feels totally different. Right now the brace is preloaded. It shouldn't be hard to make it adjustable. This has been a lot of R&D to get something which would work and fit under there.

I have some pictures but I am going to hold off until I test a bit. I was thinking some tempered spring steel would work better. The stock I have now isn't. It's strong stuff but will bend over time. Once you adjust one with tempered spring steel it would work more consistently. I'm going to get a lathe and a mill. This type of fabrication is really slow without the right tools. I know a lot of guys say his, but I really am!

Here is the basic design / theory. As it sits it works well. This one has been removed and I am building one with tempered steel and using a mount which connects to both surfaces.

With this brace installed the drive-line is solid, doesn't move at all and I can't feel any added vibration or road noise. It's crude but works and I am getting a lathe,mill and metal cutting band saw. With some equipment I can make it adjustable. I have some other ideas as well. Try cutting 3/8 by 3" steel with a saws-all!
