Maybe you just couldn't find the turbo's? There was never an FD made without turbo's.

Mazda never made a N/A FD.

However, there are some N/A FD's running around (you can find videos of them on the net), but it was done after-the-fact.

Yeah and N/A 20b FD's are probably more common than N/A 13B-REW's, now just 13B.
But they all seem to be p-ported

yeah someone once came pulled up to me and asked if it was turbo. apparently he didn't thought it was the "one without the turbo" because i didn't have a "turbo" badge on the back... guess it's natural cuz all the other tt cars have some emblem of turbo...

also a shop called "anniversary" in japan specialized in N/A rx7's just FYI. they get to listen to roataries redline ~12000 rpm :O must sound like a sports bike...

our engine model is 13B-REW.... "W" stands for double, or twin. hence all FDs are W, or, twin turbo.

i remember reading that somewhere when researching about the Cosmo motor.

Everytime someone's turbo blows out, a NA FD is born

I think people just suspect there to exsist a NA FD just because all the other Japanese sports cars came in both NA and TT models.

Long time ago... even I thought there was a NA FD. It's just ignorance. No harm done!

Perhaps 13C since it's a major revision? I don't think the renesis would have any additional letters like "-REW" tacked on to it (Wasn't the FC engine just called 13b?)...

In 1994, I had a huge debate with a dealer while on a 3rd gen test drive. He was sure the 1993 3rd gens were supercharged and 1994s are twin turbo.

I even opened the hood and showed why he was wrong. He did not believe me. On a funny note, the engine blew an oil line on the test drive.
