Did the price of FD's go down a few grand in the past year?

I hadn't really looked at FD prices, but when I sold one I had about a year ago, it was an automatic, silver FD in good shape, no mods, and I sold it for $8500 which was incredibly dirt cheap at the time. If I had held out I could've probably gotten $10,000 for it, and $12,000 if it was a stick.

But now I look on the forums and online and I see nice shape manaul FD's going for $8,000 to $10,000, and I'm wondering what the heck happened? Besides they're another year older and what not, but it just seems like the price has dropped on them considerably.

I suppose the same thing has happened with S5 TurboII's that I usually deal with, I dunno.

I think they have stayed pretty steady over the past 2 or 3 years.

Prices have been pretty even in the two years I have been familiar with the market. I have never seen a nice FD for less than $10k unless it had some combination of a blown engine, really bad cosmetics, extremely high miles, or a salvage title.

If I could find a nice FD for $8k, I'd probably buy it as a daily driver.

i dunno. i have noticed the same thing. When I bought my car a little over a year ago, I was happy to find it for $13K, but now it seems like a car in equivelant shape is running about $10K.

It may just be the area I am in, but it seems as though they have become more plentiful and cheaper here in NC.

depends whether or not you want one in good running condition. most of the cheap ones appear to have issues. just look at all the threads of "i just got an FD and I have no boost" or "car doesn't start/idle" and such.

Cars depreciate with age and use. Some of it has to do with the market's demand too. As other hot cars come on the market, the public's tastes change. FD's are great cars, but a lot my friends recently have become WRX and Sti ******. Others want to drift in 240's and AE86's.

I imagine that if you follow any kind of car through the years, the Kelly Blue Book values drop on all of them. There are not too many cars that actually are real collectors items. And every year, there are more cars flooding the marketplace.

i think they have been staying the same. I have been looking at fds for about 2-3 years now and they seem to be holding their value pretty well to me...

it's just a mileage thing..that's why prices drop. the years haven't affected anything

I would have to agree with that, the only reason you see prices that low in this area is because they are messed up. I've seen a few around 14k that were far from perfect. I'll be lucky if I can get anything good for 15k at this rate.

OEM parts get older, paint fades, rust issues...

its just the area you're in, in mine, they still have some pretty good condition FD's in the $20k range, well with an exception of a mint R1 with 20k miles for $26k, and a black touring 94 for $22k except it had 60k miles on it. I got my FD for $9k it was auto with 73k, and the dude selling it needed to get rid of it fast since he had to go to Iraq.
