Unhappy Did I screw up my gauge cluster?

I tried to do the cluster upgrade today... I removed the orange coating and upgraded to led lights.

Well... the lights work great and look awesome but I forgot to wind the gauges clockwise till they stop before I pulled the needles off!!!!

Now they don't move. Is there something I can do to fix this or are they gone?

Thanks

Does anybody know if I pull the needles off and rotate the gauge clockwise by hand and then put the needles back on if that will fix the problem.

Or is there a fuse that controls the gauges?

Rotating the gauge won't work, if you didn't mark where the needles stopped you're pretty much out of luck.

What you can do is search for someone who's posted pictures of where the needles are supposed to stop rotating. Then you can remove the needles and keep replacing them until the point where you rotate them and they stop where they're supposed to.

Or, you can find out what voltages are what for each signal..... apply that voltage to the correct pin and apply needle in that position.

Maybe I'm way off base here. But if 3v is 70 mph, then you would just have to apply that voltage and ground the unit, then you just put the needle back on at 70 mph. I guess this would require some knowledge of the gauges that I dont have though. No guesswork, but much more research.

I found this info on how to recalibrate the gauges. But it about 1st and 2nd gen.

Is it the same for the 3rd gen?

i had a friend knock my needle off when installing some overlays and the way i fixed it was i put the needle on and spun it clockwise until it felt tight and then installed the cluster back in the car without the plastic protector on it, then i proceded to use my gps to pace myself at 60 mph using cruise control and pulled the needle off and put it back on at 60 mph on the gague....the first time i did this the needle fell right back to 0....the second time on the same run it stayed....so now it's within 2mph........ up to 110 mph at least...after that it doesn't really matter does it?

That was truly stupid. You can fix some of the gauges easily.

Fill the gas tank, put the needle on full.
Warm up the car, let it idle, put the tach needle where it belongs.
With the tach fixed, you should be able to drive at the correct rpm in certain gears to determine your speed. The GPS idea is a good one if you can get one.

lol, my tach has the bouncing needle...i'm pretty sure it's just the soldering but i'm not very confident with my soldering skills to fix it...so i have a gaudy aftermarket tach...but at least i have one that goes to 10k rpm for when i upgrade my internals and can run that high...lol
