Did this happen to anyone?

Started car this morning (very cold) and antenna didn't go all the way up. I tried putting it back down and then up but it still won't go all the way up. Should I justshoot it with some penetrating oil?

Then I'm driving and start hearing an electrical relay clicking sound in both doors? It was near the front of the doors and very fast and sporatic. All door functions work mirrors windows etc... Puting the window up or down didn't matter any. Does anyone have any ideas? The further I drove the more it stopped doing it.

Any help with these 2 problems is greatly appreciated.

I read somewhere that this is pretty common. Try wiping some wd40 on the antenna when its full up. might just be sticking.

Same problem

My antenna does the same thing when its cold out. It did it this morning I just turned the radio off and put in a CD , I don't really want to f?!k with it. I don't know about the relays. I think I am going to try to clean the antenna and then use a lighter weight oil to lube it. If you figure it out could you post the fix. Good luck

My antenna did that, I replaced the mast and all is good, sucker just gets old going up and down all day. Think the part was like 43$ from the dealer...I would still be interested in looking at some aftermarket antenna's though, but they all look way to rice.

Mine did that for awhile, then quit going up / down completely. I replaced the plastic, coiled, toothed thing that the motor inside the wheelwell spins to push / pull the mast up and down. Seems like it was $29 at the dealer, but if not exactly $29 it wasn't significantly more... maybe the other post of $43 included the telescoping mast... anyway, it was easy to install and now works fine. You have to remove some trim inside the trunk and I remember taking the whole motor out (it's small) but it wasn't a big deal. Lubing the mast might help for awhile but if the nylon teeth are worn on the coiled thing it is only a temporary "fix" I'm afraid.

i suggest you not to use wd-40, it tends to collet dust and dirt and seems to cake after a while. use silicone oil!

Just push the mast all the way down and disconnect the motor, not the antenna RF cable. I get exactly the same radio reception with the antenna down as I did when it was up. Now it is always down and out of the way, no chance of some ******* busting it at half mast.

I tried WD40 on mine and within a month the nylon thing broke. WD40 can attack plastic. It cost a hell of a lot more than $43 here though try $80! Just for the nylon coil with the telescope. Mazda parts have always been outragous.

Mine was doing the same thing - pull the mast to full up and clean well - I use 3in1 oil to clean and lube the mast - repeat the process raising & lowering the mast untill it works freely on its own - then clean and lube every time you wash the car.
