Did FDs include back seats?

I'm new to the whole Rotary and RX7 thing, but did FD3S's include back seat, I believe some did but I'm not sure, please help me

And, anything you know about FD's that aren't well stated or hidden facts, please let me know the info! I'm hopefully buying on soon after I get rid of my Honda POS! <--- I hate Hondas and pistons now that I've come to the real truth: ROTARY!

None that I know of in the US but I know some Jspec ones did. Not like you can find anyone back there regardless. Maybe a 4 year old if that.

I've seen japanese ones, but it was never available in the U.S. Even with them in they are basically useless.

I know a couple of guys in the US who order the seats (used) from Japan. They replace the storage bins and the seats aren't big enough for a mouse.

No FD RX-7's imported to America came with back seats, however they were available on some models in Japan.

They do work with a 4yr old.

I have a 4yr old and I have back seats. They are TINY but they work better than bins.

I imported mine from Jimmy's RX-7 or someplace like that in England.

I think you can transport watermelons with those seats..

I remember reading somewhere that one of the reason why mazda offered the back seats was to help lower insurance, changing its class to a 4seater, not a 2seat sports car

i thought the '97 camaro back seats were bad, a 4yr old couldn't sit comfortably in a 7's back seat

2 seat only vehicles are really frowned upon in the Japanese domestic market and they have some strange laws, and taxes that make them do some crazy things.
The back seats are good for nothing more than a toddler or a gallon of milk.

I rode half way across country in the back of a 944 and it was pretty cramped, but the back seats in them aren't half as bad as RX-7 rear seats.

Lets put it this way, I am only 5'6". My 8 yr old tried to sit in behind me in the back seat. NO WAY. Legs wouldn't fit.

You must be the longest legged 5' 6" guy out there.

It all depends on what you call "fit".

If you want to drive across the country then the FD rear seats are entirely too small.

If the wife calls you at work and asks if you can pick up your daughter today they work great.

The last three pics show me and my 4yr daughter right behind me. I'm 6'0", yes the seat is scooted up but I could drive the car fine. The seat might still be considered to be too far back for someone that is short.

I just took some pics and threw them up on my webshots folder. It'll take 30min for them to update.

I wouldn't mind getting back seats, just my opinion. But how much extra weight does it put on?

I would guess 15lbs. The seat is not that heavy at all.

turobjeff, you are right, it is possible. Practical no. Even with you sitting in your seat though, it still looks like you still have more room in the back than I do. , maybe my legs are too long, lol.

I agree 100% with you. I figure they are handy to have during emergencies but not really practical as a normal seat.

The first FD I ever rode in was a VR R1 or R2 and it had back seats....I managed to fit in the back along with a keg of beer that was back in 99' or 00'

In japan its considered "rude" to not have backseats... Its a cultural thing... from what i hear.
