Why are you even here you obviously have NO love or respect for the 7. Take your poser *** Supra and leave. I mean seriously there will always be Ricers with any brand of car. So how does someone elses passion (distorted as it may be) affect your vehilcle choice.

if you can read, you would have found out that was a very small factor (notice how i said dont dwell on it, yet someone does ).

I'm afraid of getting a car and then losing the lust and wanting to get rid of it soon after purchasing.
name a car that will still get looks after 5 years, yet alone 10 years.

I haven't seen many of the ricer types with RX7's

Ricers seem to me to be the product of really reliable cars that wish they were RX-7-like.. can you say HONDA?

I think most parents of ricers won't allow them to get RX-7's b/c of the shitty gas mileage (also plus for the ricers' cars) and b/c maintaining the FD costs too much.

Also fast Hondas are possible. We have two members on my Team that hit mid 11's with their daily driven hondas/acuras and these times were clocked at IDRC and NIRA events. These cars are put together better than most of the FDs I've seen. At least these cars have been on a dyno and track run. Both of them run Top Fuel Japan turbo kits.

Also most Acuras and Hondas are under 16's stock now days.

RICE is a mentality and has nothing to do with the car. So you don't think air bags or hydraulics on a FD or Supra is not rice?

Being in SoCali you should know of fast hondas unless you are under a rock. Especially in Glendale you should at least been to Sylmar or Glendale races. Have you been to any of the race events and watched the street class?
Yeah I've seen some pretty quick cars. Seen old *** body eclipses with GT turbos. We knew this one guy who had a civic that ran 11.8 1/4 mile with a crv block and type r headers. There are a few guys that are running turbocharged LS1 vtechs. But I don't get to go racing as much as I want, but it's fun none the less.

Well, I am,... I guess a new owner.. Since I bought the car, I only put 2.5K or 2500 miles.. That in 10 months.. And most were from driving the car up from where I bought it.. Anyhow, I don't want to be a so called, "ricer".. and I don't think I am.. Maybe... I want my car to go fast and look nice.. But I dare to put some Veilside kit or some Big *** Supra wing on the back of an FD... I want to keep it nice, simple, and reliable.. Thats why I'm going 99 spec exterior, and upgrade all the stuff with reliable mods before I start putting some serious FUN miles!!

Before i bought this FD, I looked at NSX, and Supra.. I searched for almost an year on these cars.. NSX was nice, but pricey.. and too expensive for mods.. Supra was my choice at the time, but after F&F, I did notice the price jump.. Most wanted 30K..
I bought my FD and it was a steal.. The lady wanted $12K.. which was one of the lowest at the time.. Called her every day since I saw the ad on sunday and couldn't make it down until following weekend.. Finally after calling her every night for 4 days straight, she told me she'll hold it.. When I saw it, It drove like sH%T, and I gave her an offer at 11.. She said yes,.. but I wanted to check the car out by my buddy who bought and fixed 4 FD's in the past.. He looked at it and one of the intake coupler was bad.. I called and made and offer and bought it.. 71K miles, 93 base for 9000 dollars.. And it was sitting for 2 years because the lady had two kids back to back and the husband didn't know how to drive manual trans... It was a steal!!! Well, I thought it was...

But For the money that I paid, I can't tell you How happy I am with it.. Not only that, Almost all FD owners I have met have been very supportive and informative. And that is what I love more about owning this car!! The people that who owns them..

Fast and Furious $ effect

I believe the pending question is -----
Did the movie have an effect on the price of the 3rd Gens for sale.

Based on the asking price differences for the cars between October of 2001 and today, I would have to say yes. Note that the actual price increase only happened post Video release---The box office release did little or nothing to the sale prices

As to the tangential issues:

Are there reasons, other than $$$$ for not purchasing an RX-7 (any generation)---I would have to say yes (none of which matter to me at all).

Are there other cars that are more reliable ---- I would have to say yes ( I include here my 1987 245 Volvo wagon with 350,000 miles on it which costs me less that $200 yearly in maintence or any of my previous volvos which all went over 200K on next to nothing in maintenence)

But for me, are there other cars (for the same money) that are as fun to drive, handle better, are genuinely as fast in stock configurations, better looking, less common, easy to upgrade, maintain their physical integrity for close to 10 years now, and just generally make me feel good???? NOT A CHANCE!!!!

Truth is...at MINIMUM.....to get the all the above you are looking at buying and maintaining a 10 year old Porsche 911 (Bottom of the line {America RS Coupe no turbo here just the 6 cyl 3.6 l.} sells for about $22K) and then try to keep it running right !!!!!

I couldn't be happier that people don't want this car. MORE FOR ME!!!!!

FD best valued sports car since its intception

Anyone who sells an FD for 13k thats in good running condition regardless of the miles or year is stupid. I have owned a 300z turbo, 280z, s2000, and test driven c5, 2000 m roadster, 2001 m3 etc..none of which compared to the FD. I have owned 5 FD's over the last 3 or 4 years that were purchased from prices ranging from 12k to 22k and each time I sold one it retained its value and then some. Of course I have spent thousands getting them in correct running order but once thats accomplished there's not many cars that can come close in driving pleasure. My point is if you pay 13k for an FD you will spent alot of time waiting on your mechanic or you could spent 20k and up and wait for your next track date or autocross to best most other high performance sports cars that cost twice as much. One more thing don't ever buy one of these cars until you've riddin in one thats perfectly tuned with a tight suspension because once that happens you'll never question the value again. IMO FD is worth what any car enthusiast is willing to pay for a car that can go 0 - 60 in 5 seconds - pull 1g - and go 165 mph stock and looks great doing it. I can't think of many used cars under 20k that can do that can you? Or many new cars that can do that for under 50k. A good condition good running FD will always be worth 20k or more. Get your car in good running order fix everything thats broken take it to track and then tell me what it worth. BOTTOM LINE: GET SOME F#CKIING !! RESPECT FOR THIS CAR CAUSE IT DESERVES IT.
